Description
South Riding is a handsome detached modern residence which is located in an elevated position at the head of Underleys. The property has been transformed within the past decade from the original dormer bungalow into an impressive contemporary reverse layout house which has great presence. With rendered and Cedar clad elevations and grey aluminium windows under a principally slated roof (with a flat roof over the front projection), the property is filled with light during the day, and there is also very little light pollution at night making it the perfect spot for stargazing.
The accommodation has been finished to a high standard with notable features such as the oak flooring, extensive use of glass taking full advantage of the views and bringing natural light to the ground floor. To the first floor is the huge open plan living area which opens onto a balcony with glazed balustrade to the westerly gable taking in the views across the neighbouring fields. Within this rooms is a dining area and the beautifully fitted kitchen.
The principal bedroom also lies on the first floor and has doors onto the balcony and a stunning contemporary en-suite bathroom. On the ground floor there is a snug with French doors to the front garden, along with a study, a guest bedroom with en-suite and two further double bedrooms.
GARDENS & GROUNDS.
The property is approached off the road over a driveway which passes a neighbouring property to a parking area, adjacent to which is an attached single garage and laundry room. To the front of the house is a level garden and a lower garden with magnificent Beech tree, seating alcove within a flintstone wall and substantial timber shed.
The gardens rise to the rear and are divided into several vegetable beds, borders, wildlife garden, orchard and trees. There are some fabulous views over the house to the countryside beyond and in total the plot extends to about 0.4 acre.
SITUATION.
Beer is a typical example of an unspoilt Devon fishing
village and has a variety of shopping and recreational amenities such as restaurants, public houses, post office, galleries, primary school and sailing club. Glorious country and coastal walks are close at hand over a myriad of footpaths which include the South West Peninsular Coastal Path from which there are stunning views over this dramatic stretch of coastline.
The Regency town of Sidmouth lies some 8 miles to the west and is one of East Devon's premier coastal resorts with beautiful parks and an excellent variety of independent shops, along with a cinema, theatre and range of sporting facilities. The market town of Axminster is about 9 miles away and has a main line rail link to London Waterloo, and the Cathedral City of Exeter is approximately 23 miles distant with excellent shopping facilities, express rail link to London Paddington, international airport and M5 access.
DIRECTIONS.
From the centre of the village, proceed up Fore Street into Causeway and on a sharp right-hand bend continue straight over onto Townsend. Take the next left into Mare Lane and follow the road to the top of the hill and into Underleys. Follow Underleys to the end and just after the final house the concrete driveway to South
Riding will be found on your right hand side.
