Budleigh Salterton:

Budleigh Salterton has a number of amenities including friendly cafes, shops, pubs, a two mile pebble beach and a museum. It remains one of Devon’s most unspoilt and charming towns. In the surrounding area are many gardens and golf courses with leisure facilities at nearby Woodbury Park. In the town there are many cultural and sporting activities to attract people of all ages including the popular annual literary, music, jazz and science festivals. The South West Coast Path passes through Budleigh Salterton, which is England's longest waymarked long-distance footpath and a National Trail. It stretches for 630 miles, running from Minehead in Somerset, along the coasts of Devon and Cornwall, to Poole Harbour in Dorset. Budleigh Salterton is also well-located to the vibrant coastal town of Sidmouth, which is approximately 7 miles away. The town has numerous independent shops, churches, schools, a Post Office, health centre, cottage hospital, library, theatre and an Art Deco cinema. Sidmouth has three supermarkets, including a large Waitrose and the town has also won several coveted ‘Britain in Bloom’ nominations.

The cathedral city of Exeter, approximately 13 miles to the west, offers a wide choice of cultural activities with theatres, the RAMM museum, an arts centre and a wealth of good restaurants and shopping including John Lewis. There are several good primary and secondary schools, both state and independent, and Exeter University is recognised as one of the leading universities in the country. The M5 motorway at Exeter provides links to the A38 to Plymouth and Cornwall, the A30 to the South and Bristol and London to the North and East. There are frequent rail services from Exeter St. David’s to London Paddington (from just over two hours) and London Waterloo. Exeter International Airport, 11.2 miles from Elmsleigh House, offers a number of domestic and international flights, including daily flights to London City Airport.
