Description

Is this the best waterside view in Cornwall? Nestled between the two pretty villages of Devoran and Feock, on a quiet country lane, lies Tregunna, a four bedroom modern residence with double garage, a very special home with panoramic waterside views from its wrap around balcony. As the front of the house overlooks the picturesque Penpol Creek, you really do feel that you’re in the heart of Cornwall, seeing it at its best.

Why You'll Like It - Located between the two pretty villages of Devoran and Feock, on a quiet creekside lane, lies Tregunna, a very special home with waterside views. Tregunna sits on the intriguingly named Old Tram Road – so called because it was the track of the old mineral railway (the Redruth & Chacewater Railway), that ran from Point along the creek side to Devoran, a mile away. This section of track only used horse-drawn wagons; Beyond Devoran steam locomotion was used. With the front of the house overlooking the picturesque Penpol Creek, you really do feel that you’re in the heart of Cornwall, seeing it at its very best. The current owner wanted a stunning and easy to maintain home with a low maintenance garden, in a quiet water or creekside location. A formidable list of qualities indeed, but we found it for him, and he absolutely fell in love with Tregunna.
Years later, with living nearer family a priority, it’s time to let another family enjoy all that Tregunna has to offer.
Originally a little cottage, that in turn had been converted from a stable, Tregunna
means “home or settlement of the Gunnas” and was a family home for many years
before the current owner bought it and both extended and redesigned the interior.

Lifestyle - Walking through the property, you first come to a
tiled porch – perfect for hats and coats, a hallway, then through to a utility/mud room. Great for muddy wellies and sandy dogs, it even has a door to the garage, so you can enter the mud room that way, without trailing mud and sand through the
hallway. The fact that the house is 'upside down' or splitlevel is one of its best features; it means that the best views are from the reception rooms, whilst
the bedrooms remain cool and airy throughout the warm summer months.
This spacious home has four bedrooms, one of which is currently being used as an office. The living, dining room and "wrap around" balcony are at the front of the house, affording beautiful views over Penpol Creek. Opening the windows to the Cornish sea air, and enjoying a glass of wine whilst walkers and horseriders go past is a lovely way to spend a summer’s evening. Tregunna also faces South-east, so that you can enjoy your breakfast bathed in Cornish sunshine. Family and Friends often enjoy visiting Tregunna, coming for a week or more. The dining room has seen many lively dinners, and everyone enjoys heading out to the balcony for drinks afterwards – no need for the tv when there are views like these to gaze at.

Summer Living - During the summer months, the owners welcome family and friends, accommodated easily and luxuriously in the house. Sitting on the balcony in the sunshine is definitely a favourite pastime, as it offers panoramic creek views. The outside space is stunning and a real sun trap, making it perfect for al fresco dining and barbeques. The garden is very low maintenance – perfect for a holiday cottage, so no upkeep worries.
Bird watchers will be delighted by the myriad of wading birds and egrets easily spotted from the house, and the curlews have a lovely soothing call in the evenings. The nights are pretty special here too. Urbanites will particularly appreciate some
star watching, with so little light pollution.
