Description
Gorthleck lies on the edge of the Great Glen but distant from the preferred tourist routes along Loch Ness. Although both Inverness and Fort Augustus are just a ½ hour drive away, this area remains peaceful and unspoilt, its dramatic inland landscape providing a haven for many rare species of plants and wildlife. The quiet countryside makes it an ideal area for cycling and walking, while the west coast, with its excellent sailing, is within easy reach. In addition, the area offers top class shooting, stalking and fishing.
Dores village, about 12 miles away, has a popular pub and restaurant on the shores of Loch Ness and nearby Foyers has a post office and two cafe’s. The Whitebridge Hotel is 20 minutes away and has a popular restaurant and bar. There is a primary school in Gorthleck and the secondary school is in Fort Augustus. Inverness has all the facilities of a modern city including its airport with regular flights to the south and Europe.
The sellers have owned Migoive Cottage since around 2007 and in that time have improved and extended the property to provide characterful and spacious accommodation.
