The Old Vicarage is also a wonderful place for parties and family get-togethers. Our grandchildren have grown up here, spending many happy hours playing football and badminton in the garden, enjoying treasure hunts, and picking fruit in the orchard.
On a summer's evening, there's nothing better than sitting on the terrace, listening to the birdsong, looking out across the open countryside and enjoying the big Lincolnshire skies.”“We had the gardens professionally designed, and we've invested a great deal of time in developing them. Each year, the garden produces an abundance of fruit, including delicious Nashi pears and damsons that are perfect for making homemade jam. The village is very friendly, with wonderful neighbours who will stop for a chat to catch up on local news. We must also mention our postie, who knows everyone by name and does so much for the community.
Lincolnshire is a hidden gem. This area is wonderfully unspoilt, with beautiful countryside on the doorstep and the coast within easy reach. We've enjoyed countless walks with our dogs through the Wolds and surrounding area. There are lots of great places to visit too. Our visitors are always awestruck by Lincoln Cathedral, while nearby Lincoln Castle houses one of the original copies of Magna Carta. The world-famous quaint Steep Hill in Lincoln dates from Roman times and was voted ‘prettiest street in Britain’. The very extensive Hemswell Antiques Centre is another popular destination, attracting visitors from around the world.
Doddington Hall is well worth a visit – not only for its beautiful house and gardens, but also for its excellent café and farm shop, which sells superb produce. Every Christmas, we buy our turkey and Christmas tree there. At Grimsby docks, you can buy a selection of fresh, smoked and frozen fish.
Closer to home, there are lots of great shops in Market Rasen and Lincoln. Several supermarkets deliver to our village. You’ll also find some great village pubs locally.”
