Description
Farnham House is particularly handsome attached home which sits in a commanding position at the head of Fore Street over which it has attractive views. The property has an impressive front façade which is dominated by its tall chimneys, twin gables and hooded lintels, and is conveniently placed for all that the village has to offer being with a short walk of the shops, restaurants and Beer’s stunning cove. It also has the huge added benefit of parking, with a driveway to the side of the house offering space for two vehicles, as well as giving access to a side entrance into the kitchen.
This Arts & Crafts house was built, we believe, in 1902 and is of traditional construction with rendered elevations under a slated roof. It has beautifully proportion rooms retaining a wealth of character and has a delightful period ambience with the traditional features blending well with a more modern approach to the design and decorations.
Farnham House has been the subject of a significant programme of refurbishment in more recent years and is found in superb order with great care and attention given to the fittings and finish. The property was repainted both externally and internally several years ago and the current owners also installed window shutters, replaced the central heating boiler and installed fire doors.
The front door leads you into a welcoming stair hall with space to hang coats and stripped floorboards which run through much of the ground floor. The sitting room is an attractive room with a double aspect and features a handsome fireplace with inset gas fire, picture rails and a ceiling rose. There is a spacious dining room which has a feature fireplace, and the kitchen has been well-fitted with a good range of units under oak worktops. To the first floor are three bedrooms, the principal of which has an en-suite shower room, and a modern bathroom with shower above the bath. Whilst to the second floor there are two further double bedrooms in the roof space with ceiling timbers and exposed stone walls to the gable ends.
To the front of the property is a small patio with space for a table and chairs and borders containing a variety of shrubs including many roses. To the side is a driveway providing parking and giving access to a cellar and to a pedestrian gate with steps rising past the utility room to a side door into the kitchen.
