Adnams, Suffolk’s most well-known brewery, is based in the town and runs The Swan, a well-reviewed hotel with an excellent restaurant. Aldeburgh (12.8 miles), a seaside town closely associated with the composer Benjamin Britten and known for its pebble beach, has a wide selection of cultural and shopping amenities, and some marvellous restaurants, including the esteemed L’Escargot-sur-Mer. The neighbouring village of Thorpeness has a charming boating lake and country club.

Local sporting facilities are fantastic: there is a village cricket club in Yoxford and a tennis club in Saxmundham. There are acclaimed sailing and golf in Aldeburgh and Thorpeness. Clay pigeon shooting is offered at High Lodge in Darsham.
