Worksop is a market town in the Bassetlaw District in Nottinghamshire, England. Located close to Nottinghamshire's borders with South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, it is on the River Ryton and not far from the northern edge of Sherwood Forest. The population of the town was recorded at 44,733 in the 2021 Census.[2] To the south of Worksop is the area of the Dukeries.
WORKSOP TRAIN STATION
Worksop railway station is a Grade II listed station located in Nottinghamshire, England. It was opened on July 7, 1849, and is part of the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway. The station is an intermediate stop on the regional service between Lincoln Central and Leeds, operated by Northern Trains. It also serves as the northern terminus of the East Midlands Railway's Robin Hood Line between Worksop and Nottingham via Mansfield. The station features a Railway Cafe on Platform 2, a public house on Platform 1, and refreshment facilities from vending machines on both sides. The station is staffed part-time, with ticket machines available for self-service outside operating hours. There are also covered waiting areas on both platforms, fully accessible for disabled passengers. The station is undergoing a proposal to introduce a new service between London King's Cross and Sheffield, with operations expected to begin by 2025.
