Description

Fine & Country are delighted to present this beautifully renovated and extended three-bedroom period home, combining timeless character with exceptional modern living. Set within glorious south-facing gardens with versatile home offices, workshop, gym and stunning countryside views

Internal Accommodation

Originally forming part of the Conigre Estate, 2 Conigre Cottages was built in 1908 and offers beautifully renovated and thoughtfully designed accommodation, which extends to over 2,000 sqft, with an impressive sense of flow between the principal living spaces and gardens.

Much more than a traditional three-bedroom cottage, 2 Conigre Cottage has been carefully extended and configured to provide a series of generous yet distinct living areas that work effortlessly together.

At the heart of the house, the kitchen connects naturally with the utility and pantry, while the principal reception space opens directly onto the covered garden room and south-facing gardens, creating an easy progression from everyday living to entertaining and outdoor space.

Upstairs, the generous principal bedroom suite with its own dressing room and en-suite bathroom creates a genuine private suite, complemented by two further well-proportioned bedrooms and a contemporary family wet room.

The result is a home that feels considerably more substantial and versatile than its three-bedroom description might initially suggest — equally suited to family life, entertaining, working from home or simply enjoying the luxury of having space for different parts of everyday life.

Outside

Alongside the main house are two separate insulated home offices, a gym and substantial soundproofed workshop, allowing work, exercise and hobbies to take place independently without compromising the living accommodation.

The south facing gardens feature a verity of stone terraces and covered seating areas to provide excellent spaces for outdoor dining and entertaining, with the rear of the garden enjoying a peaceful outlook over the surrounding countryside.

A traditional greenhouse sits within the productive garden, providing excellent space for growing fruit, vegetables and seasonal plants. Alongside, a handcrafted brick pizza oven creates a focal point for summer entertaining, perfectly suited to relaxed evenings with family and friends.

Seller Insight:

What is your favourite room of the house and why?

Without question, the garden room. It beautifully blurs the line between indoors and out, making you feel connected to the garden throughout the year. I love how the light changes with the seasons and even throughout the day. It’s where I enjoy my first coffee each morning and, in the evening, unwind with a glass of wine while watching the garden settle for the night and the bees make their final visits.

Who do you think would be the ideal next owner?

Someone looking for the flexibility of modern living. The house works equally well for professionals who commute, those who work from home, or anyone wanting generous, adaptable living space with an attractive, easy-to-maintain garden. It has the rare ability to adapt to different stages of life.

What do you love most about the house and why?

What I’ve loved most is how Conigre Cottage has evolved alongside my lifestyle. It supported the demands of an international career with effortless commuting yet has also become a peaceful sanctuary to slow down, relax and enjoy home. It has always felt like a house that grows with you.

What do you love about the local community?

The balance is wonderful. There are excellent village pubs, beautiful countryside walks straight from the doorstep, and the cultural and shopping attractions of Bath are just a short drive away. It offers the best of village life without feeling remote.

How easy is it to commute from here?

Exceptionally easy. There are excellent rail connections to London, quick access to the M4, and both Bristol and Heathrow airports are within convenient reach, making national and international travel remarkably straightforward.

What made you choose this property over others that were available at the time?

It was the combination of location, lifestyle and flexibility. The excellent transport links suited my international business travel, while the property itself offered generous, adaptable accommodation that could evolve as my needs changed. It immediately felt like a home with long-term potential rather than simply somewhere to live.
