Description

Owners Comments…
I moved into our home in Melrose Gardens in 2023 with my two daughters, who were seven and nine at the time. It was the home where our new chapter began, so finding somewhere that offered us stability, comfort and the chance to create happy memories together was incredibly important. From the moment we arrived, it felt like home.

The location has been perfect for family life. Being within walking distance of The Coombes meant I could once again enjoy walking the girls to school before heading to work, while Wokingham and Reading are both close by. Having the bus stop just a stone's throw from the house has also made trips into Reading for shopping easy and convenient.

We’ve loved making the most of everything on our doorstep. Weekend walks to Lockey Farm to feed the donkey became a firm favourite, as did family bike rides and picnics at California Country Park. We also enjoyed treating ourselves to dinner at The Bull Inn before strolling through the nearby woodland and farmland, often spotting deer along the way. The girls still love visiting Henry Street Garden Centre with their Nanny for lunch and to feed the fish.

One of the things we've appreciated most is the wonderful community. Within just a couple of weeks of moving in, neighbours had welcomed us into the street WhatsApp group, dropped round welcome cards and made us feel part of the neighbourhood straight away. It’s a genuinely friendly road where people look out for one another.

Although the house needed some modernising when we bought it, including a complete rewire, we've loved putting our own stamp on it. As our family grew, the house adapted with us too, with the playroom becoming a fourth bedroom and the garage transformed into a flexible extra living space.

One feature we'll miss more than anything is the view from the top floor. The front bedroom welcomes each day with beautiful sunrises, while the rear bedroom enjoys spectacular sunsets. Watching the evening sky change colour together before bedtime became a treasured family tradition.

If we could, we would happily stay here. But with our family now grown to six, the time has come for us to find a home with a little more space for our next chapter together.

Melrose Gardens has given us so much more than a place to live. It gave us the fresh start we were looking for, surrounded us with wonderful neighbours, and became the backdrop to countless happy family memories. We hope the next owners will love it just as much as we have.

Dan & Neil Estate Agents’ comments…

This fantastic 3/4 bedroom semi-detached home offers flexible living in a brilliant location, within walking distance of the village, Lockey Farm and plenty of great schools.

Step into the welcoming entrance hall with a handy deep storage cupboard, before heading into the spacious kitchen with plenty of worktop space and a lovely big window filling the room with natural light.

The huge lounge/diner is perfect for family life and entertaining, while the versatile fourth bedroom overlooks the private garden and could also make a great dining room, playroom or home office. There's also a downstairs wet room for added convenience. Upstairs you'll find two generous double bedrooms with lovely views, a good-sized single bedroom, and potential to add a family bathroom.

Outside, there's a long driveway and a really private rear garden. The real highlight? The converted garage, now a fantastic garden office with stunning bi-fold doors – perfect for working from home or creating your own escape.

A wicked home with flexible space, a fantastic garden and a location that's hard to beat!

The village continues to grow, with exciting new developments including a community centre, additional village shops and a bistro pub on the way. It's a fantastic location for commuters too, with Wokingham just a 10-minute drive away, Reading around 20 minutes by car, and a handy bus service connecting you to both.
