Creagorry, around six miles away, provides everyday amenities including a convenience store, post office and filling station, while Lochboisdale, approximately 14 miles distant, offers further shops, services and the ferry terminal with regular sailings to Mallaig and Oban.
South Uist is a stunning island surrounded by crystal clear sea with white sand beaches to the west and heather uplands dominated by Beinn Mhor to the east.

The 20 miles of machair that runs behind the sand dunes is productive with nature-friendly farming which supports many rare species, including wader birds, Corncrake and Corn Bunting. South Uist has a population of approximately 1800 people. It is one of the last strongholds of the Gaelic language in Scotland and has an active crofting community. South Uist is linked by causeway to the other four islands in the Uist chain. Lochboisdale is the main ferry terminus with sailings to Mallaig and Oban. There is also a ferry connection from Lochmaddy on North Uist to Uig on Skye and ferry links to the rest of the Outer Hebrides, airport is 13 miles away with daily flights to Glasgow,

From Lochmaddy, take the A867 to Clachan. Turn left and follow the A865 for approximately 20 miles until you reach the Stillgarry signpost. Turn right.
Once on the Stillgarry township road, continue and Taigh A Bhuachaille is the second house on the left-hand side.
