Description

***Vendor comments*** "45 years ago, my parents were compelled, due to health reasons, to move home from a spacious property in Wimbledon where they had lived for 20 years to find a bungalow which they could then again call home.

However, my mum had very strict criteria on the type of place she would once again feel comfortable to bring up her family. Firstly, it had to be spacious, my mum did not like small rooms, it had to be bright and airy all day long. It also needed to have a garage and off-street parking as not only did my parents drive but my sister who lived at home drove too. It also had to have garden space where their very young Grandchildren could run around and be safe in as my other sister also lived very close by and visited with her family quite often. Lastly, it had to be close to schools as I was still of school age and close to transport because I did need to commute to Wimbledon to finish off my exams and then I could change schools to a local one. Also, if this was to be their forever home, both parents were thinking long term of growing old and not being able to drive and yet needing to get out and about, something which seemed ages ago but had to be considered.

We saw many bungalows but not one property met all my mum’s ideals until they pulled up outside this detached bungalow. From pulling up outside this double fronted property and seeing the size of the front garden a hope was formed that this could be their forever home. Once the front door was opened to us, we were all astounded at how bright and spacious the hallway was. It soon became that each room would follow suit. The bedrooms were flooded with sunlight and the built-in wardrobes were a bonus. Mum knew that most of her furniture from the huge property in Wimbledon would slot in very comfortably here.

This place was not just bricks and mortar it had the feeling of a family home.

The only thing that caused a moments hesitation was that it had a very small kitchen. Having a large family, mum often catered for 15 plus adults so kitchen space was important. This hesitation didn’t last long as we were then shown the garden! The garden area was beyond our dreams; it was the full width of the property and more and it seemed to go back endlessly it was huge! My dad knew he could extend the kitchen and still have a massive garden, which is one of the first things we did when we moved in.

This property is definitely a gem in Carshalton, a very rare find and most definitely a family home. The two bedrooms were so big my sister and I comfortably shared a room until she married and though extending upwards was not for us.

The bungalow also benefitted from having a fully boarded loft the entire space of the bungalow, which is so great for storage, but could easily be extended upwards, or even outwards and still retain a good-sized garden. Its difficult to put the potential of this bungalow and land into words and can only say its breath-taking once viewed.

All visitors we have had to the place have looked on in envy and many have remarked on the uniqueness that this place brings. The surrounding area is also not to be ignored, it’s so close to historic features like Carshalton Ponds and the Heritage centre and has a few hidden parks which make beautiful walking areas and a great place to raise a family as it benefits from schools right on the doorstep.

Transport links are so readily available with stations in walking distance, bus stops at the bottom of the road, even taking you to Heathrow and a hail and ride bus which stops at the bottom of the front garden! It really is ideally situated and I do believe it will be difficult to find any other property which matches up to this as a whole.

This is not any old home it’s a home for life! Selling this place has not been an easy decision to make and honestly something we wouldn’t be doing if mum had maintained good health but unfortunately, my mum, now being on her own has suffered a few health conditions and is no longer able to live on her own and needs 24-hour care; something we never imagined as we thought she would live her life out in the property she loves so much. It's heart-breaking having to sell this much valued home which has created so many beautiful memories for us and can only hope its new owners will value the bungalow as much as our family have and build equally happy lasting memories".
