LOCATION/AMENITIES
Morar is a welcoming Highland village with a strong sense of community, offering a range of everyday amenities including a primary school, church, hotel, café, garage and railway station. Regular services on the celebrated West Highland Line provide connections to Fort William and Glasgow, while the iconic Jacobite Steam Train passes through the village during the summer months.
A wider selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, medical facilities and a secondary school can be found in the busy fishing port of Mallaig, approximately 3 miles away. Mallaig also provides regular ferry services to Skye and the Small Isles, making the area an excellent base for both residents and visitors.
The village enjoys an active community calendar, with the popular Mallaig and Morar Highland Games and Ceilidh taking place each August on the local playing fields, celebrating the area's rich Highland heritage and traditions.
DIRECTIONS
From Fort William follow the A830 (Road to the Isles) west towards Mallaig for approximately 40 miles. There are two available sign-posted turnings into the village from the B8008; if you take the first turning, cross the bridge over the River Morar and continue over the railway crossing past the Morar Hotel on the left hand side and railway station on the right- hand side. Go down a short hill and turn right into the parking area at the base of the slope. The cottages are set off the road behind a white wall. Alternatively, you can take the second turning into the village a little bit further on and follow the road round the corner past the primary school. Fois A Chridhe is immediately adjacent on the left set off the road, post code PH40 4PA. Proceed through the gate and the property is the end house.
