Description

Perridge Hill, Pilton

A charming two-bedroom former dairy, beautifully converted and offered to let on a furnished basis.

Set at the end of a private drive, the property enjoys an exceptionally peaceful and secluded position within approximately 10 acres of orchards, gardens and open fields. Bruton, Castle Cary and Wells are all within easy reach.

The house is warm and well insulated, with double-glazed windows throughout. Its interiors have been thoughtfully furnished with an attractive combination of antique and mid-century pieces, complemented by ancient flagstone floors and natural timber.

Accommodation
The entrance opens directly into a generous and well-equipped kitchen, with flagstone flooring and plenty of space for informal dining. Appliances include a range cooker with induction hob, dishwasher, washer-dryer and fridge-freezer, while crockery and glassware are also provided.

Beyond is a spacious and comfortably furnished sitting room with wooden flooring and an electric wood-burning-style stove. French doors open onto a sunny terrace with a garden bench and lovely views across the surrounding fields.

Upstairs are two beautifully presented and particularly spacious bedrooms. The principal bedroom has a king-size four-poster bed, while the second has a queen-size bed. Both are furnished with wardrobes and chests of drawers, and there is also a useful desk.

The bathroom is equally well appointed, with a freestanding roll-top bath and a large separate shower.

High-speed Wi-Fi is available. The property enjoys delightful rural views, with sheep grazing in the neighbouring fields and deer frequently seen nearby.

Outside
The property is approached through a gated entrance and has ample private parking, together with a carport and a large garage offering excellent storage.

French doors from the sitting room open onto a sunny terrace and adjoining lawn. There is also a separate gated, walled garden with a pond and space for outdoor seating.

Surrounded by fields and orchards, the property is exceptionally private, with numerous countryside footpaths accessible nearby.

Offered fully furnished and available from September 2026.

About the area
The ancient and historic village of Pilton boasts a splendid 11th-century church, a 14th-century tithe barn and many period houses and cottages.

According to legends, this is where Joseph of Arimathea entered Britain. It is now internationally famous for its festival (with tickets provided to the residents).

Pilton is certainly, and understandably one of the most popular villages in the area with a very active, friendly and welcoming community. There’s a wide range of activities and amenities including a parish church, Methodist chapel with coffee shop, excellent recently refurbished pub, village hall, nursery and preschool, village Co-Op shop, electric car chargers, community orchard and recreation ground.

The major towns of the area being Bristol, Bath, Taunton and Yeovil, are all within commuting distance, and there are excellent road networks to London and the South. Castle Cary is the nearest train station with fast links to London and home to The Newt in Somerset.

Wells, the smallest city in England, nestles close to the Mendip Hills – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty-has excellent local markets twice a week and many medieval buildings including the Cathedral and moated Bishops Palace.

Education is well covered with excellent state & independent schools in the area including many village primary schools, Crispin, St Dunstans, Strode College, Wells Cathedral School, Millfield, Downside, All Hallows and the Bruton schools. Pilton itself has a church, thriving village pub, village hall, a very active and friendly community and is an exceptionally popular residential area.
