Description

Located in the heart of Altea's historic quarter, this unique property represents an exceptional opportunity to live in one of the most authentic and characterful enclaves of the Mediterranean. Altea, known for its cobbled streets, white-washed houses, and artistic tradition, offers a lifestyle where culture, history, and tranquility combine with a vibrant gastronomic scene and a privileged proximity to the sea.

The property, with a distinctly classic style, is distributed across three bedrooms and four bathrooms, retaining the character and essence of traditional local architecture.

The true heart of the property lies in its spectacular terrace, an intimate and charming space that invites you to enjoy the Mediterranean climate year-round. Equipped with a Jacuzzi, it becomes the perfect place to relax while taking in the breathtaking open views of the sea, the Sierra de Bernia mountains, and the iconic Peñón de Ifach rock.

On this same level, you'll find one of the most special bedrooms in the house, from which the sea can be viewed, creating a unique and privileged atmosphere that blends rest, privacy, and unparalleled vistas.

Its location is unbeatable: a few steps from the main points of interest in the old town, surrounded by renowned restaurants, art galleries, and historic corners, and just minutes from the beach. An environment that turns every stroll into an experience and every day into a way of living Altea.

A property with character, ideal for those seeking a home with soul in a truly special setting.

The picturesque tourist town of Altea is situated in the Marina BaJa region, on the Mediterranean coast of the Bay of Altea, south of Calpe and north of Alfaz del Pi. The long mountain range of the Sierra Bernia separates Calpe from Altea.
The town is part of the Douzelage, the European Union's twinning towns association, and is the official cultural capital of the Valencian Community.
Very peaceful and welcoming, Altea has always attracted bright and creative people, and in the mid-20th century, there was an entire colony of artists, writers, and musicians who transformed the town into a bohemian hub.
There is a large number of art galleries and artisan workshops featuring ceramics and jewellery. And, in its cultural centre, the Palau de Altea, where Montserrat Caballé and Rostropovich performed, concerts by major orchestras, opera and pop stars from around the world, as well as exhibitions and theatrical productions, are programmed.
Altea has a Faculty of Fine Arts at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche.
Interestingly, in honour of the town, Seat named one of its sporty MPV models the Seat Altea.
The town's name likely derives from the Greek Althaia, meaning "I heal," or from the Arabic word a aláya (watchtower).
During Muslim rule, Altea belonged to the Taifa of Denia until it was reconquered by Christian troops in 1244, under the command of James I of Aragon.
The 18th century in Altea was marked by an upsurge in agriculture, fishing, commerce, and population. And during the 19th century, official and commercial life moved to the urban centre by the sea.
Altea stands out from other towns on the Costa Blanca due to its pebble beaches and narrow streets with white houses covered by tiled roofs, reminiscent of a snow-white Andalusian village.
Cobbled paths, located on the slopes of the Old Town, lead to the Catholic church of Nuestra Señora del Consuelo, which has become a symbol of Altea. Its blue and white dome is often referred to as the "Dome of the Mediterranean."
The ruins of the 16th-century Fort of Bernia and the watchtowers of Bellaguarda and La Galera (16th-17th centuries) have survived to this day.
In Altea, you'll find the first Orthodox church built in Spain, the Temple of the Archangel Saint Michael. It was built with money from parishioners living in Altea Hills, one of the most affluent residential areas in Altea. One-third of the foreigners here are Russian.
Furthermore, real estate in the town is mainly purchased by Britons, Germans, and Scandinavians.
Their choice is not surprising; tranquil and serene, Altea attracts lovers of peace and privacy.
