Description
A door to the front of the property opens into the main reception room, which has two windows taking in the impressive views, both with pretty window seats and wooden shutters. In addition, the sitting room has an attractive herringbone floor, a central fireplace with an inset wood-burning stove and an exposed beamed ceiling.
Adjoining the sitting room to the rear of the property is a separate dining room, which incorporates a further wood-burning stove, external doors to each side and a spiral staircase rising solely to the second bedroom.
The kitchen has been tastefully fitted with a range of base units in a cottage style. Within the kitchen there is a built-in storage cupboard, an integrated electric oven, hob, fridge and freezer, plus space and plumbing for a slimline dishwasher. A staircase from the kitchen then leads to the first floor. An inner door continues through to a useful utility room (with external door to the courtyard) and access through to a downstairs bathroom.
On the first floor, the master bedroom is generous in size and enjoys the most spectacular views. The third bedroom is located opposite.
Completing the accommodation is the aforementioned second double bedroom, which is accessed from the spiral staircase and benefits from an en-suite shower room.
OUTSIDE
There is a small but established area to the front of the cottage offering a lovely place for bench seating to enjoy the fabulous south-facing views. To the rear, Hill End Cottage offers an enclosed, walled courtyard which is very pretty and provides the ideal spot for a bistro table and chairs. External gated access (on foot) to the side is available from the courtyard.
The highly sought-after village of West Horrington lies only a few minutes' drive to the northeast of Wells and boasts one of the area’s most popular primary schools (within walking distance). There are some stunning countryside walks on the doorstep of the village.
Wells itself is England’s smallest Cathedral City, well known for its beautiful architecture and of course the stunning Cathedral and Bishop’s Palace. The High Street is well represented by both national and independent retailers and there is a twice-weekly produce market in the Market Square. There is secondary schooling at The Blue School as well as Wells Cathedral School, and Millfield School in Street is within easy travelling distance. Wells has excellent leisure facilities, including a leisure centre with gym and pool, plus golf, cricket, tennis and football clubs all within close proximity.
Wells, and in particular West Horrington, are also accessible to both the cities of Bath and Bristol. Served by public transport to Bath and Wells. The nearest train station is at Castle Cary, which has a direct mainline service to London Paddington, as does Bath Spa.
