Buyers assemble! A jaw dropping penthouse apartment set in the heart of Bromley centre that has to be seen to be fully appreciated.

Occupying 3 storeys (including the mezzanine), the property has been remodelled and upgraded by the owners who have created a contemporary haven that is equally suited to entertaining and everyday living.

Hidden away behind a gated secure entrance, Bromley South, Bromley North and Shortlands stations are all within walking distance, along with the town's excellent shopping, restaurants and green open spaces - making this a show off abode that delivers both convenience and lifestyle in equal measure.

Why the owners bought it (and what they’ve done since...)

When the owners first viewed the apartment back in 2013, three things immediately stood out.

Firstly, the incredible sense of space. The vaulted ceilings and expansive living room create an atmosphere that's rarely found in apartments in this area, with natural light streaming in through the full-height windows and two private balconies. The space is most obvious from the two king size bedrooms, and full sized bathrooms - one of which is en-suite to the main bedroom, and now houses the stacked washer / dryer (to spare them being in the kitchen).

Secondly, the unique mezzanine level, which one of the owner's has made his 'office' (slash man cave...), overlooking the main reception room. The steel staircase was custom made to make the access more impressive / practical, and boy has it worked.

Finally, the location. Despite being just a five-minute walk from Bromley Town Centre and within easy reach of three stations, the apartment enjoys a surprisingly peaceful and secluded setting.

The owners have subsequently spent a fortune transforming it into the masterpiece you see today.

The original layout has been completely reconfigured (including removing walls) to create a stunning open-plan kitchen, dining and living space, centred around a sleek top of the range kitchen with high-end integrated appliances including a five point gas hob, and Quooker tap for instant boiling, chilled and sparkling water. The hideaway bar makes entertaining effortless.

On the entrance floor, both bathrooms have been fully renovated, engineered oak flooring has been installed throughout, the mezzanine has been enhanced with bespoke shelving and additional storage, whilst the original rickety spiral staircase (in the living room) has been replaced with an elegant custom steel and oak work of art.

Practical upgrades include a new Worcester Bosch boiler in 2019, full rewiring on the second floor and mezzanine (with a new consumer unit), EV charger within the private garage, water softener, accumulator pump for improved water pressure, and the reassurance of a recently renovated roof.

The Lifestyle

One of the greatest advantages of living here (as the owners expand on below), is just how effortlessly everything Bromley has to offer is within reach.

Bromley High Street, The Glades Shopping Centre, cafés, restaurants, gyms and supermarkets are all just a short stroll away, while the property itself retains a quiet, tucked-away feel that's difficult to find so close to the town centre.

Commuters are exceptionally well catered for, with Bromley South, Bromley North and Shortlands stations all within approximately ten minutes' walk. Fast services from Bromley South reach London Victoria in around 18 minutes, making this an ideal choice for those balancing city working with suburban living.

In terms of green spaces, residents are spoiled for choice with nearby Church House Gardens and Martins Hill, and with the building being 'share of freehold' it's especially great for dog-owners, the owner's two pupps would certainly agree.

Early viewing is advised to avoid dissapointment.

A bit more from the owners directly…

'What's your favourite thing about living here?'
Definitely the sense of space and being so close to Bromley's fantastic range of amenities without even thinking about it. We will really miss hosting our friends in such a cool space. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we have.

'Why are you moving?'
We're sadly moving out of the area to be a bit closer to family. It's a wrench to leave, especially as we've really added lots to the place to make it feel special, but accept we cant pick it up and take it with us!

'What are your neighbours like?'
All our neighbours are very friendly; we have a WhatsApp group for building updates and where we arrange for visitors to share parking spaces etc. We know our neighbours best on our floor, with Angus and Laurie in Flat 7 and Richard and Juliette next door in Flat 8.

How is the internet within the flat?
Internet is very important for us as we both work from home (and work in tech), so we get broadband from Starlink, which is very stable and speeds are great.

Best local Café?
The area has so many, but our favourite picks are:

  • Roastar speciality coffee – Small and very friendly independent with amazing coffee
  • East Street Coffee – Another independent that makes a mean cheese toasty
  • Gails Bakery – We all know Gails. Amazing pastries and bread
  • Olive Tree Café – Guilty pleasure for when you need a fry-up

Best local pubs?

Our fave is The Shortlands Tavern which is only a short walk. You can sit in the traditional pub building, yet it also has a more modern extension seating area and an expansive beer garden. Traditional pub food but also has a fresh pizza counter in the garden.

Best local restaurants?

There’s so much variety and it’s so hard to choose, but if we had to pick:

  • Havet – Great quality and healthy Turkish food
  • Copper Ceylon – Sri Lankan food in a warm and cozy atmosphere
  • Rangoli Nest – Good Indian food with lots of vegetarian and vegan options
  • Branded – great steak and cocktails
