MONTENERO DI BISSACIA - CAMPOBASSO PROVINCE
A small hilltop town close to the border with Abruzzo and stretching to the Adriatic coast which is 8 minutes away. The resort town of San Salvo, with more facilities, is only 20 minutes away.
Montero di Bissacia is 273 metres above sea level and is surrounded by the Montenero Ravines which are erosive forms of clays soils that give a characteristic aspect to the territory.
One of the town-s most popular events is ‘The Night of the Old Village- which takes place, over two days, each August. There are many festivities including gastronomic stands, craft shops, songs, dance and performances of all kinds. The town is known for its ventricina (salami), Tintilia red wine and olive oil and this is a great chance to both taste and buy.
Another famous event is the ‘Living Christmas Crib- which takes place in the Neolithic sandstone caves dating back to 10,000 BC. It attracts visitors from all over Italy and displays a strong link between territory, traditions, myths and legends.
Montenero Di Bissacia has much to offer and the 6,637 residents have access to a wide variety of shops, supermarkets, chemist, banks, post office, restaurants, pizzerias and bars.
