So what is rent to buy? Rent to Buy is a Government scheme designed to transition you from a rent to a home owner. You will pay a subsidised rent to help you save for a deposit to purchase the apartment either through shared ownership or outright. You have five years to do this. At the end of your five year tenancy, you must decide how you wish to purchase the property.
To be eligible for the rent to buy scheme, you must be a first time buyer, be in full time employment, have the right to rent, meet the minimum income requirements and have the intention to purchase the property.
