Description

REF: JC0739 - If you've been searching for a detached house and slowly watching your budget disappear into the distance, don't give up just yet. Because this one might be about to make things interesting.

Sitting on a corner plot just a stone's throw from Chasewater Country Park, this three-bedroom detached home comes with a driveway running down the side, a detached garage, a decent garden and, for the money, represents an absolute steal. Detached houses aren't supposed to make this much sense at this price.

Inside, the lounge is a really good size, with plenty of room for proper sofas without having to perform advanced geometry every time you want to rearrange the furniture. The large front window brings in loads of natural light, while the staircase runs through the room with its glass balustrade adding a nice modern touch.

Head through towards the rear and you've got the kitchen/dining space, giving you somewhere completely separate for family meals, Sunday dinners or sitting around the table for considerably longer than planned once somebody opens a bottle of something. There's direct access out to the garden too, so in summer the inside and outside work nicely together.

Upstairs, the main bedroom is a proper double with its own en-suite shower room, while bedroom two is another good-sized room and comes with a huge run of wardrobes. Basically, if you've got enough clothes to require your own branch of Next, you're covered. Bedroom three is the smaller single, but it's genuinely useful as a child's bedroom, nursery or home office rather than simply being included because somebody managed to squeeze a bed into it. There's also a separate family bathroom, so you're not all queuing outside the en-suite every morning.

Outside is where this one earns a few more points. Being on the corner gives you a much more substantial plot than you might expect, with the driveway running down the side providing plenty of off-road parking and leading to the detached garage. The rear garden itself gives you a patio, lawn and a fantastic covered timber seating area at the bottom, perfect for summer BBQs and equally useful when the British summer inevitably turns into sideways rain halfway through one.

Ultimately, this isn't trying to be the biggest or fanciest detached house you'll ever see. It's simply a hell of a lot of detached house for the money. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, corner plot, driveway, detached garage, good garden and Chasewater just around the corner.

At this price, we'd suggest getting through the door before everybody else works that out too.

Location

Location-wise, this one has a pretty big ace up its sleeve. Whitehorse Road sits just a stone’s throw from Chasewater Country Park, so rather than loading the car up every time you fancy getting outdoors, you've got around 360 hectares of country park and a 90-hectare reservoir practically on the doorstep. There are walking and cycling routes, water sports, picnic spots, a children's play area and even the heritage Chasewater Railway, particularly handy if you've got a dog that expects a better social life than you do.

For families, Brownhills West Primary School and Brownhills Ormiston Academy are both nearby, while Brownhills itself provides the everyday shops, supermarkets and amenities you need without having to venture far.

It's a really handy spot for commuters too. The A5 is easily accessible from this side of Brownhills, putting Cannock, Lichfield and the wider motorway network within straightforward reach, while Burntwood, Walsall and Sutton Coldfield are all conveniently placed for work, shopping and everything else.

But Chasewater is what really makes the location. Having somewhere like that so close means evening dog walks around the reservoir, bike rides at the weekend or simply escaping the house without having to plan an entire day out.

For anyone wanting everyday convenience but with a huge chunk of countryside almost at the end of the road, Whitehorse Road gets the balance pretty spot on.
