Description

Glenorchy is a handsome traditional house on the edge of Strathpeffer, a Victorian Highland, conservation village in Ross-shire. The property is on a sheltered, elevated site with beautiful, easterly views over a wooded landscape.
Strathpeffer expanded with the arrival of the railway in Victorian times when visitors came to the village to take the famous spa waters. The historic Victorian centre remains today, set around a main square with the recently renovated pavilion, and is popular with tourists for its handsome architecture and as a base from which to enjoy the area with its easy access to Inverness and the west and east coasts.
The village has a small supermarket, highly regarded primary school, restaurant, cafés, hotels and a doctors’ surgery. The market town of Dingwall is just a ten minute drive away and has a wider range of shops and amenities including an excellent secondary school, while Inverness, about 20 miles away, has all the facilities of a modern city including its airport with regular flights to the south and Europe.

The current owners purchased Glenorchy in October 2019 when it was in a poor state of repair and had been unlived in for some time. The property has been fully renovated and this work includes incorporating the former annexe into the main house, to create comfortable, well-appointed family accommodation retaining original features including timber finishes, cornicing and fireplaces. The annexe reconfiguration allows for easy conversion back to a self-contained unit.
