Vendor insights
"For the past four years, this beautiful home has been at the heart of our family life. The property is close to the historic centre of Lincoln, with stunning cathedral views while offering a rare sense of peace and seclusion that feels more like the countryside than the city.
The house has a wonderful sense of space, with the generous proportions and high ceilings that are typical of Edwardian houses. The living room is a favourite spot – with superb garden views – and the dining room is a great space for entertaining. During our time here, we've added our own touches, including new bathrooms, wood burners and a walk-in pantry, while the former World War II bunker has been transformed into a luxurious sauna with plunge pools – the perfect place to unwind at the end of the day.
The south-facing garden is a hidden gem, filled with mature trees and established planting. We love relaxing on the veranda and listening to the birdsong. It’s easy to forget you're in the heart of a city as the garden is so peaceful.
With five spacious bedrooms, two with en-suite facilities, the house has comfortably accommodated our family of six. Now that the children have grown up, with some living in London, the excellent rail connections mean they can still return home in under two hours, making family visits wonderfully easy.
We love being able to walk to the city centre, past the cathedral, and benefit from everything Lincoln has to offer. The cathedral hosts regular concerts: the Christmas Eve carol service is a cherished annual tradition, while the summer concerts held in the castle grounds regularly attract world-renowned acts. We’re a short walk from Lincoln Arboretum, which has plenty of green spaces for picnics and relaxation, as well as a children’s play area and a maze.
There are also thriving running and cycling communities and several sports facilities within a short walk, including tennis, squash, cricket and hockey, and the prestigious annual cycling race. The Lincoln Grand Prix is a must-see in the old city."
Lincoln is simply a wonderful place to call home. From independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants to open-air concerts in the castle grounds, there's always something happening.”
