Description

One of my favourite everyday moments is walking the dog from the house to the nearby park. The route winds through quiet, twisting lanes lined with homes where friends and neighbours live, so there's almost always a familiar face to stop and chat with. Then, within a few minutes, you're surrounded by the calm of the park—a peaceful pocket of nature that somehow exists right in the middle of a busy city. It's a simple routine, but it captures everything I've loved about living here.

The home

A characterful Victorian terraced house on Leonard Road, St George, arranged over two floors and finished throughout with bold colour and individuality.

The front reception room is a bright and generous living room, anchored by a deep blue feature wall and a bay window dressed with plantation shutters. A cast iron fireplace with a wooden mantel sits centrally, flanked by fitted, painted shelving that makes good use of the alcoves, while a decorative mirror and gallery of artwork add further character. Moving to the rear, the dining room continues the individual style with rich green walls, currently furnished with a wooden dining table and a run of fitted cabinetry, and lit by a cluster of glass pendants. The kitchen sits adjacent in a practical galley layout, fitted with dark cabinetry, a Belfast sink and a terracotta tiled splashback, with a run of worktop space and a freestanding range cooker, and a door leading straight out to the garden.

Upstairs, the home offers three bedrooms and a family bathroom. The main bedroom is a well-proportioned double, made bright by its own bay window with a fitted window seat, and finished with a cast iron fireplace and built-in storage. The second bedroom is a further double, styled with a striking run of fitted wardrobes and a feature wallpapered wall. The third bedroom is currently set up as a home office, a versatile space equally suited to a single bedroom, nursery, or study. The bathroom is fitted with green tiling, a bath with shower over, and a characterful vessel basin set on a wooden washstand.

The outside space

To the rear, a paved patio provides a private spot for outdoor dining, bordered by timber slatted fencing planted with greenery for privacy. A timber-clad structure to the side offers useful additional space, ideal for storage or as a garden room. The structure is split: on one side, there is a shed and dedicated garden storage area, while on the other is a fully insulated office or small music room, complete with mains electricity, heating, and double glazing. It is constructed of reclaimed timber.

Living in St George

Leonard Road is a quiet road of terraced homes off the ever-popular Church Road. Situated on the border of St George and Redfield the location has so much to offer. Nearby St George’s Park is one of the city’s most popular parks providing a kids play area, tennis courts, a cafe, a skate park, and a lake. St George has many exciting independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, like the very popular Native Vine, Red Church, and Orchard Café.

The shops and cafes of Easton are also easily accessible via the Bristol to Bath cycle path, including East Bristol Bakery, Garden of Easton, and Bristol Sweet Mart. There are several well-regarded schools in the area, meaning this is a popular area with families. For commuters, it is a short journey into Bristol City Centre by bus, bike or car, whilst also being just a short drive from Bath and the motorway networks as well. From this side of the City Centre, Bristol Temple Meads is just a short journey away.
