Description

A pretty 1930s three-bedroom terraced home with a private driveway, enclosed rear garden and plenty of potential, ideally positioned within easy reach of Dorchester town centre, Dorset County Hospital, highly regarded schools and the beautiful countryside surrounding Maiden Castle.

The property has clearly been well loved and cared for, but would now benefit from some updating, offering a fantastic opportunity for a new owner to create a lovely home to their own taste.

A welcoming entrance hallway leads into the front-facing lounge, where a square bay window brings in plenty of natural light and a gas fire provides a focal point to the room. The lounge opens into the dining room, creating a sociable and flexible living space, with a window overlooking the rear garden.

The kitchen is fitted with a range of base units and offers space for a washing machine and fridge/freezer. Also on the ground floor is a useful WC, together with under-stairs storage.

Upstairs, the landing provides access to three bedrooms and the shower room. There are two double bedrooms, one with built-in cupboards, together with a further single bedroom. The shower room is fitted with a white suite and walk-in shower, while the boarded loft provides useful additional storage.

Outside, the enclosed rear garden has an established feel, with mature planting and several areas to sit and enjoy the space. A patio immediately adjoins the house, with steps leading through the garden to a further patio and summerhouse beyond. There is plenty of scope for a new owner to put their own stamp on the space.

To the front, the property benefits from the increasingly valuable addition of a private driveway providing off-road parking.

Coburg Road is a particularly convenient location for those wanting to be close to the heart of Dorchester. The town centre and Dorset County Hospital are both within easy reach, while well-regarded local schools and the open countryside and walking routes around Maiden Castle are also nearby.

With its attractive 1930s proportions, off-road parking, established garden and excellent location, this is a home with plenty to offer buyers looking for a property they can update and improve over time.

Our View

For us, the real appeal of this home is the combination of character and location. Being so close to Dorset County Hospital and Dorchester town centre makes it incredibly convenient, while Thomas Hardye School, 1610 leisure centre and the beautiful walks around Maiden Castle are all within easy reach.

Coburg Road is also home to a local middle school, which means there is naturally more activity around school drop-off and pick-up times, but outside of those relatively short periods the road is surprisingly quiet.

We also love the character that comes with a home of this era. Its 1930s proportions, square bay window and established garden give it a lovely sense of character, and although it would benefit from updating, that also gives the next owner the opportunity to make it completely their own. Add in the driveway – always a real bonus this close to the centre of Dorchester – and we think there's an awful lot to like here.
