Description

Characterful period home combining charm, space and modern convenience in a highly sought after village.

Description

Believed to date from around 1850, the property was originally two farm cottages which have since been combined to create a substantial single dwelling. Not being listed, the house offers flexibility for future owners, while the current owners have successfully used the property both as a private Cotswold retreat and as a holiday let, providing the potential for continued income generation, subject to any necessary consents. The property has also benefited from significant recent improvements, including a complete rewire, modernisation of the bathrooms and kitchen, together with the installation of a new boiler in 2026 and a replacement oil tank in August 2023.

The front door opens into a welcoming entrance hall featuring a striking inglenook fireplace and useful coat hooks. Double doors lead into the impressive kitchen/dining room, a light-filled space with a vaulted ceiling, oak flooring and walnut worktops complemented by a granite-topped island. The kitchen is fitted with an integrated Bosch dishwasher, Rangemaster electric oven, Belfast sink, space for a microwave and tall fridge-freezer, while French doors open directly onto the rear paved terrace.

Adjoining the kitchen is a fitted utility room with space for a separate washing machine and tumble dryer, together with internal access to the single garage.

The sitting room is full of character, featuring a stone-surround working fireplace, flagstone flooring and exposed beams. Beyond lies a secondary entrance hall with flagstone flooring, providing access to a cloakroom and a useful study.

On the first floor, the principal bedroom benefits from fitted wardrobes and a well-appointed en suite shower room with a walk-in double shower. There are two further double bedrooms, one of which enjoys a dual aspect and attractive exposed beams.
A family bathroom serves the remaining bedrooms and is fitted with a bath with shower over.

Outside, to the front of the property, a gravel driveway provides good parking and extends to the single garage. Attractive topiary planting and a mature climbing wisteria enhance the property’s appealing façade.

To the rear, a private paved terrace provides an excellent setting for outdoor dining and entertaining, with steps leading down to a generous lawned garden bordered by mature trees and extending to a streamlet.
