Description

"The house is perfectly suited to hosting friends and family who always compliment us on how homely it feels. The positioning of the back garden captures the last rays of sun in the evening which we have enjoyed on many occasion with a drink or two. The street itself feels like it own community with the nicest neighbours we have known and we will be very sad to leave. Finally the local independent amenities on Gloucester Road, only a short walk away, provides everything you require."

The home

Located on Milner Road in Ashley Down, a spacious and contemporary example of a two bedroom Victorian terrace, benefitting from a side return extension, retained period detail throughout and a sunny north west facing garden. The front living room is a bright and comfortable space, with a large bay window fitted with plantation shutters, an attractive original fireplace and fitted alcove shelving. The white walls and ceiling keep the room feeling light, while the dark fireplace, navy furnishings add depth and colour. Original-style cornicing and timber flooring complete the room.

The dining room leads through to the kitchen and provides a useful space for both everyday dining and entertaining. The kitchen has been fitted with a good range of white cabinetry, pale work surfaces and classic metro-style wall tiling. Rose-gold handles add a subtle contrast, while integrated appliances keep the finish neat and understated. The exposed timber flooring continues through this area, adding warmth against the lighter finishes. The kitchen opens to the garden/playroom, which acts as a useful addition to the main living space, with large glazed doors and rooflights bringing plenty of natural light into the room. The timber flooring continues through, and the space is currently used as a playroom, but could work well as a study, second seating area or breakfast room.

Upstairs, both bedrooms are well proportioned and simply finished, with neutral carpets and light walls creating versatile spaces. The larger front bedroom benefits from a generous amount of natural light and plantation shutters, while the second bedroom provides a comfortable double bedroom with plenty of space for storage. The bathroom has a clean, practical finish, with white sanitaryware, metro-style tiling and a small hexagonal tiled floor. Chrome fittings and a heated towel rail complement the more traditional feel, with the washing machine and dryer neatly incorporated into the room.

The outside space

A private, enclosed rear garden with a good-sized lawn, paved seating areas and a selection of established planting is offered. The garden benefits from a north-west facing aspect, with a useful timber shed providing additional storage. There is also a paved area directly outside the rear of the house, creating a practical spot for outdoor dining and seating. At the back of the plot, is a gate leading to a rear alley, which can be accessed off of Selborne Road.
