Description

Private, peaceful, and steeped in three hundred years of history. This is countryside living, done properly.

Tucked away on Trickses Lane in Ham Green, this semi-detached cottage blends original character with genuine family living. Set within a generous plot with a large driveway and double garage, the property also includes a self-contained one-bedroom annexe above the garage, currently run as a successful Airbnb. With three double bedrooms, two bathrooms, a separate dining room, office space, and a spacious landscaped rear garden, it's a home that works as hard as it looks good.

We asked them what made them buy it...

"We thought the location was amazing and the property was full of character and incredibly peaceful. It combined original features that are almost three hundred years old with enough space to make it a great family home. Location, location, location, really. You're slap bang in the middle of the countryside, so you get all the benefits of country living, and yet you're only around ten minutes from supermarkets and train stations, not to mention the great pub you can walk to. The house sits at an intersection of footpaths, so there are fabulous walks on the doorstep. You can walk to Feckenham in forty minutes without ever crossing a road. We're also less than a mile from the Brook Pub in Elcocks Brook, and the Sunday lunch is absolutely top drawer. It's really easy to get around too. You're about fifteen minutes from either the M40 or the M5, and around twelve minutes from both Bromsgrove and Redditch railway stations, with direct trains to Birmingham and Worcester."

What about the house itself?

"The lounge is where we spend most of our time. It's a really welcoming space full of character, and with the log burner going in the colder months, it's just a cosy place to be. The garden is lovely too. We genuinely treat it as another room of the house, and it's a fantastic place to sit with your morning cup of tea or your evening cocktail. We didn't need to make any major additions, but we did put in new windows across the whole house and added an automated garage door. The beams in the original part of the house always get a reaction from guests, people say it feels like they're on holiday. It's such a quiet spot that it's brilliant for working from home, and we installed Starlink for the internet, which has worked fantastically well. The annexe has also been run as an Airbnb, so there's real potential for passive income too."

Our agents say...

Honestly, properties like this don't come around often. The exposed beams and the large brick fireplace give this cottage bags of character the moment you walk in, and the room sizes throughout are genuinely spacious, not the "cosy" you sometimes find in period homes. Parking is never an issue either, with a double garage and a large driveway on top.

But it's the location that really sells it. Tucked away down a quiet lane, surrounded by fields and footpaths, yet close enough to Redditch and Bromsgrove for the school run, the supermarket dash, or a train into Birmingham. And then there's the annexe. Whether you need space for a relative, a home office, or an income-generating Airbnb, it adds a layer of flexibility you just don't get with most family homes.

If you've been searching for a home with genuine character, space to grow into, and a little slice of the countryside to call your own, this could be the one. Get in touch with our team to arrange a viewing.
