Description
Mid Gleniron is situated in the Luce valley, about 3.5 miles northwest of Glenluce and 12 miles east of Stranraer. Glenluce village sits just off the A75 (close to the Luce estuary) and hosts a variety of local amenities including a nursery and primary school, village shop, doctor’s surgery, bowling club, playpark, hotel, church and village hall with a Post Office outreach service weekly. Stranraer is the nearest town where there is a large secondary school, healthcare facilities (Galloway Community Hospital), supermarkets, shops, leisure facilities, professional services, hotels and restaurants. The town also has a small marina and a train station with regular services heading north to Ayrshire and Glasgow.
For the outdoor enthusiast, Dumfries and Galloway has many walking routes on offer. The Southern Upland Way, which passes through some neighbouring land around 2 miles to the north of the farm, is perhaps the best known and very popular with walkers. Curling, golf and horse riding are also very popular pursuits. Stranraer & District Riding Club offer training and hold regular events nearby. Curling is available at the North West Castle Hotel in Stranraer and there are numerous golf courses in the area including Wigtownshire Golf Club (near Glenluce), Stranraer Golf Club and Dunskey Golf Club (Portpatrick). The Ryan Leisure Centre within Stranraer town centre is a multi-purpose leisure facility offering a wide range of activities and events including leisure pool, health suite, games hall and theatre which provides a year-round programme of shows, cinematic films and productions.
Communications to the area are very good with the A75 trunk road providing access to the south via the M6, A74 and M74. Ferry links to Northern Ireland run from Cairnryan, which is approximately 16 miles from the property. Glasgow Prestwick Airport and Glasgow International Airport are approximately 57 and 90 miles respectively from the property.
