Description

“A peaceful, light-filled apartment in south-west London”

Set at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, this three-bedroom apartment is arranged on the second floor of Sandra Court, a small apartment block in south-west London. Designed by architects Sanchez Benton, the apartment is filled with elegant proportions and natural light. Tooting station is a short walk away, and the home is brilliantly positioned for Tooting and Mitcham’s thriving neighbourhoods and green spaces.

The Tour

Entry is through a robust central hall which leads into a spacious open-plan kitchen, living and dining space. Two large windows on both sides brighten the space and allow light to permeate the entire plan. The kitchen has been thoughtfully designed, with Sapele hardwood worktops providing generous storage, alongside integrated Bosch appliances. Timber flooring runs throughout the living spaces and bedrooms.

The principal bedroom is positioned towards the rear of the apartment and has an en suite shower room. There are two further bedrooms – one currently configured as a study – both spacious and with ample built-in storage.

A bathroom completes the plan, with a shower-over-bath set against white mosaic tiling and fixtures by Laufen, Bette and Grohe.

The Area

Sandra Court sits on the border of Tooting and Mitcham, a thriving area of south-west London. In addition to the already good selection of pubs, the area has an increasing number of independent restaurants, bars, cafes and long-established local institutions, including neighbourhood favourites Juliet’s, Daddy Bao and Smoke & Salt. Tooting Market, established in 1930, and the newer Broadway Market, provide an eclectic mix of food stalls and shops.

For green space, Figge’s Marsh is a few minutes away, with its outdoor gym and table tennis. Mitcham Common is close by to the south, and to the north are Tooting Bec and Tooting Bec Lido. The lido, measuring 91 metres, is the UK’s largest freshwater swimming pool and, framed by its colourful Victorian changing rooms, is a distinctive backdrop for summer sunbathing or a brisk winter dip.

Tooting station is within three minutes’ walk and runs regular Thameslink services to Blackfriars in approximately 25 minutes, to Farringdon in around 35 minutes and to London St Pancras International in roughly 40 minutes. Tooting Broadway Underground station is approximately five minutes away by bus and is on the Northern Line. The A24 provides quick access to the M25.

Industry affiliations:

The Modern House is an estate agency that helps people live in more thoughtful and beautiful ways. We have been successfully selling Britain's finest modern architecture since 2005, representing design-led homes throughout the UK from our offices in central London.

The Modern House meets the growing demand for exceptional living spaces of all kinds, including flats, lofts, conversions, architects' own homes, new builds and period houses. Our name is inspired by FRS Yorke's celebrated book 'The Modern House' (1934), which introduced modernist architecture to a British audience.

We are excited by homes that pay attention to the timeless principles of modernism: space, light, materials, nature and decoration. Combined, we believe design can be a powerful force for good.
