Torrevieja is very easily accessed from the A7 motorway which runs parallel with the town. Because Torrevieja is an old fishing town, with its own harbour and small fishing fleet. It is not a “resort” in the true sense of the word and does not cater for the package holiday industry – those activities take place much further to the north. The shops, bars and restaurants of the town are open all year round, to cater for a population which is either resident in the area, or enjoying a stay in a holiday home owned by themselves or relatives. Torrevieja has a fabulous range of facilities, apart from its wonderful shops, tapas bars, restaurants and its incredible outdoor market, which offers a tremendous selection of fish, fruit, meat and vegetables throughout the year.
