A versatile & deceptively spacious equestrian residence with magical secluded south facing grounds of approximately 2 acres (stls)

What We Say at the Zoe Napier Group

Appearances can be deceiving! This property is genuinely a Tardis of epic proportions, offering incredibly versatile accommodation with the flexibility to be utilised in a variety of different ways to suit the requirements of the incoming buyer. Outside, the secluded, south facing grounds are truly magical and quite something to behold. Wonderfully private, they are enveloped by a plethora of mature trees, established shrubs and greenery, creating a wonderfully tranquil and secluded sanctuary. For the equestrian enthusiast, the extensive stabling and associated facilities further enhance the appeal, making this a rarely available country retreat that offers both exceptional versatility and an enviable equestrian lifestyle.

What the owners say

We have loved every second of living in this wonderful home and will dearly miss it. We have created so many incredibly special memories here, particularly enjoying the secluded swimming pool and beautiful grounds, which have provided the perfect setting for regular soirées with family and friends. Many of those wonderful occasions have invariably culminated in us sitting back and watching the sun set with a glass of wine. The exceptional local schooling has been invaluable to us as a family, whilst having a railway station just a short drive away, offering such a seamless commute into London, has been a huge bonus.

History & Background

The property is believed to have been originally constructed in the 1970s, with later additions creating the versatile accommodation on offer today. Internally, the property provides generously proportioned reception rooms, including spacious sitting and dining rooms, together with a well-appointed kitchen and separate utility room. The principal bedroom benefits from its own en suite, whilst three further double bedrooms are comfortably serviced by a generous family bathroom.

Externally, the approx. 2 acres (stls) of grounds are undoubtedly one of the property's particular highlights. A substantial driveway provides ample off-street parking and leads to a detached double garage, complemented by an additional garage/workshop. To the rear, the south-facing gardens are superbly secluded, enclosed by a plethora of mature hedging and established greenery, creating a wonderfully private setting. The grounds also incorporate equestrian facilities and a rear paddock, further enhancing the property's appeal.

Setting & Location

This property is set back off of Hyde Lane, on the outskirts of the highly sought after village of Danbury, perfect for access to the local amenities, Gastro pubs and green spaces around. The children can walk to the bus stop for transport into school and into nearby Maldon and Chelmsford City. Danbury is one of the most popular villages in this part of Essex boasting the highest point in the county. There are a number of clubs and sports facilities and Danbury park school (currently rated as outstanding by Ofsted) is nearby. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy Danbury Country Park as part of the National Trust the nearby Blackwarden Nature reserve and RHS Hyde Hall.

Secondary schooling can be found at Sandon School and Great Baddow High School with private schooling found in the village for Elm Green (Little Baddow) and Heathcote with  New Hall and Felsted schools within the daily school run. Chelmsford Train Station would be the best station for access into London Liverpool Street a 5.4 mile drive away.

Accommodation

Upon entering the property, you are immediately struck by the impressive, elongated entrance hallway, which provides access to the principal reception rooms. The sitting room is a particularly appealing space; a generous, bright and airy dual-aspect room centred around a fireplace housing a cast-iron log burner, creating the perfect setting for cosy evenings during the colder winter months. The sitting room flows seamlessly into the dining room, where sliding doors open directly onto the sun terrace, providing the ideal setting for alfresco dining and entertaining. The adjacent kitchen/breakfast room is well equipped with a comprehensive range of base and eye-level units, an oversized Aga and breakfast bar, whilst the adjoining the useful utility room has plumbing for a washing machine, space for a tumble dryer and a door providing access to the rear grounds.

The principal bedroom is situated within the west wing of the accommodation and is a bright and generously proportioned double room. French doors open directly onto the sun terrace, creating a wonderful spot to enjoy a morning coffee whilst taking in the peaceful surroundings. The bedroom is further complemented by its own en suite shower room. To the front elevation, there is a further generous double bedroom, which could equally lend itself to use as an additional reception room, together with an en suite WC. Two further double bedrooms are located within the property and are exceptionally well served by the extraordinarily spacious family bathroom, which comprises a five-piece suite.

Grounds

The property is approached via an elongated shingle driveway, which leads to two separate parking bays providing ample off-street parking for several vehicles. The driveway continues to a detached double garage with power and slight connected and up-and-over door, which in turn adjoins a further garage/workshop, providing excellent additional storage and workspace.

Side access leads through to the magical south-facing rear grounds, which provide a veritable oasis of tranquillity. Superbly secluded by a plethora of mature trees and established hedging, the gardens are predominantly laid to lawn and complemented by mature flower and shrub borders. A substantial sun terrace provides the perfect setting for alfresco dining and entertaining, whilst the outdoor heated swimming pool creates a wonderful focal point and an enviable space to enjoy long summer days with family and friends.

The equestrian facilities are positioned centrally within the grounds and comprise three 12ft x 12ft stables, together with an additional oversized 24ft x 11ft stable, which offers the potential to be divided to create two further stables if required. An adjoining hay barn/tack room provides useful storage and completes the equestrian provision. A five-bar gate gives access to a further rear paddock, which backs directly onto beautiful woodland, providing an idyllic setting.

In all, the grounds extend to approximately 2 acres (stls), combining privacy, leisure and genuine equestrian appeal in a wonderfully secluded setting.
