Description

***WATCH THE VIDEO TOUR***

Behind the characterful façade of The Old Post Office lies an unexpectedly contemporary family home, bringing together design-led interiors and generous, flexible living in the quiet village setting of Lower Bemerton. Extending to over 2,000 sq ft and arranged across three floors, this distinctive five-bedroom home has a distinctly urban feel while sitting in one of Salisbury’s most sought-after residential areas.

Its adaptable layout makes it particularly well suited to modern, blended or multi-generational family living. The house has been comprehensively refurbished by the current owners, with considerable attention given to both the quality of finish and the practical requirements of modern family life.

The principal living accommodation is centred around an impressive open-plan kitchen and dining room. Designed as a sociable and practical space, the kitchen incorporates bespoke cabinetry, generous storage and a central island with breakfast seating. Glazed doors open directly onto the rear garden, providing excellent natural light and a seamless connection between the house and its outdoor space.

A particularly notable feature is the ground-floor accommodation, which can be configured to provide a more independent living area within the main house when required. The generous lounge can either remain incorporated within the main family home or form part of this additional living space, making it particularly suited to blended or multigenerational families, older children or guests.

The upper floors provide five bedrooms. The principal bedroom occupies the uppermost floor and enjoys attractive views across Lower Bemerton, together with a contemporary ensuite shower room. There are four further bedrooms, comprising three generous doubles and a single bedroom, served by two contemporary bath/shower rooms. One features a freestanding bath, while both have been finished with high-quality fittings and walk-in showers.

A further feature is the detached garden room, currently arranged as an office/guest room and incorporating its own shower room. This additional space is ideal for home working, hobbies or occasional guest accommodation.

The property occupies a generous plot with a private and thoughtfully landscaped rear garden. Designed for ease of maintenance, the garden incorporates a substantial paved terrace, ideal for outdoor dining and entertaining. Fully enclosed, it provides an attractive and private setting.

Lower Bemerton combines a quiet, village-like atmosphere with convenient access to the centre of Salisbury. The surrounding area is characterised by attractive period properties, mature greenery and a strong sense of community, while Salisbury offers an excellent selection of independent retailers, restaurants, cafés, theatres and leisure facilities. The city is also well served by a range of highly regarded state, grammar and independent schools, including South Wilts Grammar School and Bishop Wordsworth’s School and Bemerton St Johns Primary is a 5 min walk. Salisbury’s mainline railway station is approximately a 10-minute walk away and provides regular services to London Waterloo and the West Country, while the surrounding road network offers convenient access towards the New Forest, Southampton and Bournemouth.

The Old Post Office offers a rare combination: the character and tranquillity of Lower Bemerton with a contemporary, design-led interior and an unusually large and adaptable layout. A distinctive home created for modern family life.

About Oliver Chandler, Salisbury

62 Castle Street, Salisbury, SP1 3TS

A property team built on firm foundations

Jamie and Faye launched Oliver Chandler in January 2018. But, as one of Salisbury's newest estate agents, they've already become one of its most successful.

However, their story together goes back much further than that!

Collectively, they have more than a couple of decades of property sales and property lettings experience around Salisbury between them to offer you. All of which is built on unrivalled local knowledge.

Faye grew up in the New Forest just to the south of Salisbury, while Jamie's family moved to the area when he was 13 years old. They grew up in the same village and became firm friends while attending secondary school in Fordingbridge

The best of rivals

From a standing start in 2006, Jamie then developed a successful career in property sales in Salisbury, working for some of the city's leading estate agents.

Faye began her career in the same year but focused on property lettings. She spent time in London and Salisbury, rising to be area manager with one estate agent and lettings director of another. During this time Faye became Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) qualified.

In fact, for many years Faye and Jamie worked directly opposite each other, for competing Salisbury estate agents. But, having often talked about joining forces and starting their own agency, and with their 40th birthdays looming, they finally took the plunge. In January 2018 they launched Oliver Chandler to specialise in property for sale and property for rent in Salisbury and the surrounding area.

Integrity and innovation

In a competitive market it's difficult to differentiate between estate agents. However, what sets Oliver Chandler apart is their belief in combining old-fashioned quality, service and value with new technologies to rapidly match the right property for sale or rent with the right people, for the right price.

Their reputation is such that most of their early growth has come almost exclusively through recommendation and referral.
