Description
The first thing you’ll notice about this house is the decor. It isn’t the norm. And, if we’re being completely truthful, we got slightly sucked in by it ourselves.
Bold colours. Dark rooms. Old-school radiators. A deliberately atmospheric feel that, from the moment you walk through the door, somehow makes the house feel as though it belongs to another time.
Now, the owners would be the first to tell you this isn’t some perfectly polished, every-corner-finished refurbishment. Far from it. There are rustic edges, quirky details. But it works.
And the longer you spend here, the more you start noticing that underneath all that character, quite a lot has actually gone into this house.
Arranged over four floors — lower ground, ground, first and second — it could very easily be described and used as a five-bedroom house, although the layout gives you plenty of freedom to decide what becomes a bedroom, reception room, workspace or something else entirely.
There are two bathrooms, a brilliantly quirky rear courtyard and far more space than you might initially expect from the street.
Then there’s the location.
This little pocket of Ramsgate’s East Cliff is dense, historic and slightly chaotic in the best possible way. Narrow streets, Georgian and Regency architecture towards the cliff, Victorian houses tucked behind, and the town centre and Royal Harbour only minutes away on foot.
Parking can be interesting. We’re not going to pretend otherwise.
But this increasingly feels like one of Ramsgate’s more culturally interesting corners — the sort of place that has always attracted sailors, fishermen, artists and people who perhaps prefer things with a few rough edges.
This house won’t be for everybody.
But there’ll be a percentage of you who walk through the front door and immediately get it.
We did.
NOTE. We have mildly used AI to reduce light pollution of the photography. Some the window views will be not be entirely correct.
