Description

A fantastic and extended Five-Bedroom Three Bathroom 2000 SQFT Victorian Terraced Home with Driveway and large West Facing Garden.

The ground floor boasts a stunning, extended kitchen/diner complete with a central island, alongside an impressive 27ft through reception room. To the rear of the house, a versatile study with a vaulted ceiling and bi-fold doors opens directly onto the garden, enjoying glorious verdant views and creating a wonderfully light and tranquil space.

There are Three double bedrooms on the first floor along with the family bathroom. The loft has been converted to provide TWO further bedrooms (one double and one single) plus a really good size separate bathroom too.

Externally there is an incredible garden at over 100 feet long. It’s a very sunny and tranquil space providing plenty of seclusion.

What the owner’s love about the house;

We love the large secluded garden. Over the decades it has been a perfect haven and great setting for parties and games of hide and seek. We’ve welcomed hedgehogs, robins, butterflies and Jersey hawk moths in abundance alongside a lifetime’s worth of family and friends.

Inside the house, we love the blend of historic and contemporary features, from the original marble fireplaces and solid oak pulley shutters to the way the light floods in through the bi-fold doors and Velux windows of our vast kitchen-diner. Its previous owner was the writer and broadcaster Karen Armstrong. Her best selling memoir The Spiral Staircase was written in our house and references the meditative qualities of the garden. She worked at an old wooden kitchen table which is now my desk. My husband has also written books here. It is a house full of stories ready for its next chapter.

What the owner’s love about East Finchley;

East Finchley has been a great place to raise a family. Our children have benefited from the great primary and secondary schools in the area and the wealth of open spaces on our doorstep. These include Long lane Pasture, Coldfall and Cherry Tree Woods. We love the community spirit here, there are three ‘gift and take’ book cupboards in a quarter mile radius, a wonderful independent cinema, many opportunities to get involved in the festival and guerilla gardening projects and yet we are only 18 minutes by tube from London’s west End.
