Description

Charming detached period cottage situated on the edge of Downton together with parking, garage and gardens. No onward chain!

Period detached cottage situated in a slightly elevated position on the edge of Downton within walking distance of all the facilities. Believed to have originally been two cottages dating back to mid 1850's, the accommodation is primarily to the ground floor including a conservatory extension with a bedroom and cloakroom on the first floor. The cottage has been well maintained to include a complete re-thatch in 2011 and a new ridge in 2020. It is not listed and there is no onward chain.

Enter the cottage via the entrance porch which is located to the rear. This provides shoe and coats space. The hallway has a double coats cupboard and another cupboard housing the lagged hot water tank. The bathroom has a white, three piece suite, heated towel rail and part tiled walls. On entering the sitting room, the stairs to first floor will be seen on the left adjacent to the brick fireplace housing a wood burning stove. There are three windows to the front elevation giving plenty of light and ceiling timbers throughout. From the sitting area, a door gives access to the good sized double bedroom with built in wardrobe. From the dining area a glazed door leads to the kitchen which has work surfaces, cupboards and drawers, built in hob, oven and extractor hood, dishwasher and washing machine. A wall cupboard houses a recently installed Vaillant gas fired boiler for heating and hot water, there is a rear door to the garden and a large opening to the conservatory. On the first floor is a further double bedroom and cloakroom.

Outside is a parking area for several vehicles to the side of a large garage which has power, electric up and over door, window to side and pedestrian access door.

The garden is on a number of different levels with sitting area outside the conservatory, lawn paths, flower beds and mature shrubs and trees. There is a further area beyond the garage with apple trees and garden shed.
