Description

Built by the Co-operative Wholesale Society in 1898 above Angel Meadow, the factory made cigarettes and cigars from imported leaf, and was doubled in size by a 1933 art deco extension designed in-house by the Society. That extension forms the entrance today, where lift and stairs rise to a communal atrium - glazed overhead, with riveted steelwork and timber boarding left exposed - and the route continues from there into the original factory block, where the apartment sits.

Set on the second floor, the apartment offers one bedroom and an open living, dining and kitchen space, with a secure allocated space in the underground car park.

The Space

The front door opens into a hallway with a built in storage cupboard, timber flooring running underfoot and continuing through the home. The bathroom sits to the left, the bedroom to the right, and the main space ahead.

The living space reads as three zones: living as you enter, dining behind a partition wall, and the kitchen tucked around the corner beyond. Two nine-pane windows face south east, tall in proportion and carrying the morning light across all three zones, with pendant lighting hanging over each in turn, drawing the eye up to the ceiling height. The kitchen is arranged with cabinetry above and below the counter in grey, set against a wood-effect worktop and splashback, and a pantry cupboard built in.

The bedroom shares the same south-east aspect and window proportions, finished with a sage green wall behind the bed, with ample room for storage.

The bathroom holds a bath with overhead shower behind a black-framed screen, oversized marble-effect tiling to the walls, a floating basin with built-in mirrored cabinetry above, and a heated towel rail.

The Area

Situated within a 5-minute walk of Ancoats, NOMA, and the Northern Quarter - home to some of Manchester’s most exciting restaurants, coffee shops, and independent stores. Just steps from the building, Angel Meadow Park offers open green spaces and winding pathways - a quiet urban oasis in the city centre.

Excellent schools, many rated Outstanding by Ofsted, support family life, while the city’s central business, retail, and transport hubs are all easily accessed.

Convenient access to the M56, M60, and M62 motorways makes commuting simple, while Manchester International Airport is just a 30-minute drive away. Shudehill Tram Stop and Manchester Victoria Train Station are both within a 10-minute walk, offering easy links to the wider region.
