Description

Spacious three-bedroom ground-floor property forming part of an imposing Victorian stone-built residence, with period features, private garden ground and parking in the popular Highland village of Strathpeffer. The property is in need of some upgrading and remedial work.

Windsor Lodge is an impressive stone-built Victorian property dating from around 1890, which has since been divided into three individual residences. Number 1 occupies the southern section of the ground floor and retains a number of original features, including decorative cornicing, panelled doors, deep skirtings, timber detailing and period fireplaces. The property is in need of some upgrading and remedial work.

A half-glazed hardwood door opens into the sun porch, which has glazing to three sides, attractive timberwork and a traditional tiled floor. A further half-glazed door leads into the spacious entrance hall, where decorative archways, timber architraves add to the character of the accommodation.

To the right is the sitting room, a bright dual-aspect room with windows to the front and side overlooking the gardens. An open fire with a tiled hearth and decorative cast-iron surround forms the central feature, complemented by cornicing, deep skirtings and a recessed display alcove.

Bedroom one is also positioned to the right of the hall and is a spacious double room with two windows overlooking the front garden. An unused fireplace with a tiled surround and wooden mantel provides an attractive focal point.

Bedroom two is another generously proportioned double room with a window to the front and a built-in storage cupboard.

At the end of the hall is the bathroom, fitted with a WC, wash-hand basin and bath with a handheld shower attachment. There is also a separate fully tiled shower enclosure and a built-in cupboard.
A door from the hall opens into a rear porch, providing access to the rear of the property. The kitchen is also accessed from this porch.

The kitchen has a good range of beech-effect floor and wall units with complementary work surfaces, tiled splashbacks and tiled flooring. Windows to the front and side provide good natural light, with space for dining. The electric oven, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge-freezer are included in the sale.

Bedroom three is accessed from the inner hall and is a further spacious double room. It retains a particularly attractive Victorian fireplace with a cast-iron inset, decorative tiled surround and wooden mantel. A window to the side overlooks the garden.

The private garden lies principally to the front of the property. A parking area and shed are positioned to the rear, together with a separate small allotment area shown on the title plan. The driveway extends around Windsor Lodge, providing access to the rear of the building.

Strathpeffer is an attractive Victorian spa village approximately five miles west of Dingwall and around 20 miles from Inverness. The village has a convenience store, cafés, restaurant, medical practice and primary school, together with a community centre, golf course and the restored Strathpeffer Pavilion. The former railway station houses the Highland Museum of Childhood and a selection of small businesses. Dingwall provides a wider range of shops, supermarkets, secondary schooling, leisure facilities and rail connections. The surrounding area is well placed for woodland walks, cycling and access to the wider Highlands.
