Seller’s Insight
"When we built Omega House, we put a huge amount of thought and consideration into every aspect of the design and the materials we chose. Although we were creating a new home, we wanted it to have the character and warmth of a traditional converted barn, while incorporating the comfort, practicality and energy efficiency of modern construction. We feel we have achieved this through the use of reclaimed bricks, solid oak timber beams and details such as the timber cladding beneath the windows. It was important to us that the house felt established and full of character, rather than like a conventional new build.
We wanted to create a home that felt spacious, welcoming and filled with natural light, with a strong connection between the indoor and outdoor living spaces. The impressive entrance hall, with its vaulted ceiling and exposed oak beams, creates a wonderful sense of space. The south-facing central courtyard was a particularly important part of our design, with direct access from the kitchen, entrance hall and principal bedroom, allowing us to enjoy the outside space from different parts of the house. It has become one of our favourite places to sit and relax or entertain friends and family, enjoying the sunshine and incredible views across the surrounding countryside.
We designed the equestrian facilities to be as practical as possible. The all-weather turnout area and walkway have proved invaluable during the wetter months and in spring when grazing needs to be restricted. The well-drained 20m x 40m arena, with its silica sand and fibre surface, provides an excellent space for year-round riding. We are also fortunate to have several equestrian venues nearby, including Sheepgate Equestrian, while the beach is only a few miles away, offering wonderful opportunities for riding along the coast.
The detached one-bedroom holiday cottage offers a great deal of flexibility, whether used as holiday accommodation or as a self-contained space for family and guests. We have also included a two-bedroom static caravan within the grounds, providing further accommodation options.
We have taken great pleasure in developing the gardens, creating a productive growing area with a greenhouse and vegetable beds, as well as planting numerous trees and shrubs, including silver birch, flowering trees and roses. We are fortunate to have an abundance of wildlife on our doorstep, including buzzards and green woodpeckers, and the peaceful surroundings make it a special place to spend time outdoors.
We love the balance between rural tranquillity and the convenience of having everything we need close by. Burgh le Marsh is just a short drive away, with its independent shops, pubs and everyday amenities, yet as soon as you turn down the driveway, the outside world seems to disappear, and the property feels wonderfully private and peaceful.
We enjoy visiting the nearby beaches, dining at The Lakes Restaurant and exploring Snipe Dales Nature Reserve. With the coast, countryside, local amenities and equestrian facilities all within easy reach, we feel the area has so much to offer, and Omega House has been a wonderful place to enjoy it all."
