Description
Tucked away on a peaceful road within walking distance of Bromsgrove town centre, this character Edwardian end-terrace has grown with its family over the years. A loft conversion has added a third floor and a generous main bedroom, there's parking at the rear through a gated shared driveway, and an insulated garden room gives you somewhere to work, play or unwind. And beyond the back fence? Nothing but open playing field.
We asked them what made them buy it...
"It was exactly what we were looking for at the time. We loved the road immediately. It really is a little backwater, quiet and tucked away, and yet the town and the shops on Broad Street are right there. Our family grew and we did think about moving, but we never found anything that came close. The neighbours are lovely. We all chat over the garden fences in the summer and take in each other's parcels. The schools are just the other side of our field, reached by a footpath, so there was no school run in the car and the older ones could walk on their own. There's so much going on in Bromsgrove too. Our kids did everything from Cubs and Brownies to cricket, football, swimming and orchestra, and there's park runs, book clubs and walking groups for the grown-ups. We love Stripped Kitchen in town for healthy, homemade food. Honestly, what we'll miss most is the quiet. Most mornings you wake up and can't hear a thing."
What about the house itself?
"When we bought it, it was a two-bedroom house that needed a lot of work, but we could see its potential. As the family grew, so did the house. We converted the loft, and later added the log cabin as a games room for the teenagers. Downstairs, the kitchen, dining room and living room all connect, so that's where we spend most of our time. Having a separate utility and downstairs WC is so useful. You don't have to listen to the washing machine spinning! The home office is insulated in the floor, walls and roof, and the boiler is less than three years old. At Christmas the open fire is always roaring and it's so cosy. In summer the back door stays open all day, and we get the sun from mid-morning right through to sunset. Sitting under the pergola with a drink in the evening is pretty tranquil. And people always stop to chat about the house martins. We have two nests at the front!"
Our agents say...
We love an Edwardian home, and this one has period charm in spades, from the bay-fronted lounge to fireplaces in both reception rooms. But it's the space that really surprises. Laid out over three floors, there's far more room here than you'd guess from the street. The main bedroom has the whole top floor to itself, with space for wardrobes, furniture and even a desk, and views across the playing field you'll never tire of. If you work from home, the garden room is a real bonus: fully insulated, with electrics already fitted. And rare for a home this close to town, there's parking too, reached along the shared driveway and through a vehicle gate at the rear. With a first and middle school across the field and the town centre around 5 to 10 minutes on foot, this is a home that makes everyday life easy. Get in touch today and come and see it for yourself.
