Description
On arrival, the honey-coloured stone exterior immediately gives a sense of the property’s period charm. Inside, exposed beams, deep-set windows and a handsome timber staircase sit alongside a layout thoughtfully adapted for modern family life. The generous kitchen/dining room is particularly inviting, opening directly onto the garden and working equally well for everyday living or entertaining. A comfortable lounge and separate snug provide further living space, while a utility room and ground-floor shower room add practicality. Upstairs, five bedrooms include an en-suite principal room, alongside the family bathroom. Outside, the garden is another real highlight, with mature trees, established planting and secluded seating areas creating a wonderfully private and peaceful setting.
A separate one-bedroom annexe offers excellent self-contained accommodation for extended family, guests or independent living. The substantial workshop/garage and first-floor office area add another layer of flexibility, whether for home working, hobbies or potential conversion to additional accommodation, subject to the necessary planning consents.

Seller Insights
“Denton Lodge has been an incredibly special home for us. Over the past five years, we’ve extensively refurbished and modernised the property while carefully retaining its original character. We opened up the kitchen to create a much larger, more sociable space and installed a new kitchen and bathrooms, new windows, engineered wood flooring, electrics, and heating. So, while it’s a period property, the house has also been fully updated, meaning the next owners can simply move in and enjoy it.
One of the things we’ve always loved about Denton Lodge is how light and spacious it feels, while still being wonderfully cosy. The separate lounge and snug work really well for family life, while the large kitchen and dining room, with double doors opening onto the garden, creates a lovely flow between indoors and out, and makes the space perfect for entertaining.
The garden is a real delight, and we’ve spent a lot of time landscaping the outside space. There are also mature trees, including apple and quince, as well as a yew tree and specimen acers. We also have a variety of herbs, including sage, fennel and lemon balm, together with lovely lavender bushes. The garden is wonderfully private and peaceful – on a sunny day, there’s nothing better than sitting out there with a good book and a cup of tea.
The house dates back to 1791, and we believe it may originally have been four cottages, possibly used as accommodation for workers on the Belvoir Estate. Denton Lodge has so much character, from the exposed beams to lovely details such as the window seat in the living room. The walls are incredibly thick too, which helps keep the house warm and cosy in winter and pleasantly cool in summer.
We’ve been very lucky with our neighbours and there’s a really friendly, active community in the village. Denton has an excellent primary school, a pub and a church, while Grantham is only around eight minutes away by car, so you’ve got everything you need close by, including shops, restaurants, M&S and B&Q.
Denton is such a picture-postcard English village, and the countryside around it is stunning. You can step straight out of the front door and be surrounded by nature. The local reservoir is a haven for swans and geese and a popular walking area – we often see and hear flocks of geese, which is rather lovely. Our children have also loved being able to get on their bikes and head off into the countryside.
Denton Lodge has been a wonderful family home for us. Now that our children have left for university, it feels like the right time to downsize, but we’ll miss both the house and the area enormously.”
