Seller’s Insight
“Mill View has been in our family for many years, having originally been built for my parents in the late 1970s. When we moved here, the bungalow was considerably smaller, with agricultural land extending right up to the house. In 2002, we undertook an extensive programme of extension and modernisation, significantly increasing the size of the property, adding the conservatory and double garage, and reconfiguring the bedrooms and living areas to create a more spacious and practical family home.
The house has a lovely balance of living spaces, and we particularly enjoy the cosy lounge with its open fire, which is wonderful during the colder months. We spend a great deal of time in the conservatory, which makes the most of the garden and countryside views. It is a lovely place to sit and relax, whatever the weather, and has become one of our favourite rooms in the house.
We have also put a great deal of time and care into landscaping the gardens. We created a terrace leading directly from the conservatory, with steps down to a lower gravelled area incorporating further seating spaces and a pergola walkway. Planted with climbing roses, wisteria and clematis, the pergola beautifully frames the views across the open countryside beyond.
Over the years, we have established a variety of trees, including apple, pear and beech, alongside well-stocked borders that provide interest throughout the seasons. We particularly enjoy our productive vegetable garden, where we have successfully grown everything from tomatoes, beans, courgettes and carrots to raspberries and strawberries. Being able to grow so much of our own fruit and vegetables has been incredibly rewarding and allows us to be fairly self-sufficient.
One of the things we appreciate most about living here is the peace and quiet of the countryside. We enjoy the space, privacy and lovely open views, yet never feel isolated. Sturton by Stow is just over a mile away, with its village amenities, while Saxilby offers further shops and services when needed.”
