Description

A Grade II Listed country house in the idyllic Usk Valley.

The main house dates originally from the 16th century. It was remodelled in 1815 , and again in the 1950's. It is said to have been built as the rectory, which it remained until 1925. It also had various alterations and extensions in the early 20th century.

It is in appearance a Regency villa but only the south wing dates from 1815 and the northern end is the addition of 1955. The core of the house is 16th century with many well-preserved period features.

Nothing of the old house can be seen from the west side of the house, but its origins are clear on the east side where the house has a stone rubble range with casement windows and a two storey, gabled Elizabethan style porch.

In the grounds, and with separate garden and parking, is a detached three bedroom cottage of about 1057 sq. ft.

Between the house and cottage is a range of well-maintained period barns and outbuildings.

There are beautifully landscaped formal gardens including many mature specimen trees and a notable collection of Magnolias.

The house and cottage occupy an attractive parkland setting with views across its own land, amounting to just under 15 acres.
