Description

A charming and exceptionally stylish two-bedroom home, lovingly renovated and beautifully maintained throughout. Situated on a quiet, friendly and sought-after road within walking distance of Newbury town centre and surrounding countryside.

This gorgeous property is a real gem, offering a wonderful combination of character, comfort and individuality, with thoughtfully considered interiors and attention to detail that really sets it apart. The accommodation begins with a welcoming kitchen and dining area, featuring a range-style oven and views over the pretty front garden. A beautifully appointed space, equally suited to everyday living and relaxed entertaining.

The sitting room is a particular highlight of the home. Decadently decorated, with a wonderful sense of warmth and personality, this signature room features a wood-burning stove, creating a cosy focal point for the colder months. From here, a door leads to a small
conservatory, providing a lovely connection between the house and garden.

Upstairs, the sense of charm and individuality continues with polished hardwood floors. The main bedroom is a generous double with an attractive feature fireplace and lovely views over the rear garden. The second bedroom is a small double, equally well presented and
offering flexibility as a guest bedroom, nursery or home office.

The bathroom has been exquisitely renovated, with stylish fittings, carefully chosen finishes and a shower over the bath, creating a wonderfully elegant and relaxing space.

Outside, the peaceful rear garden is a lovely retreat, with low-maintenance landscaping allowing plenty of opportunity to simply sit back and enjoy the surroundings. West facing, this is a lovely spot for afternoon and evening sunshine. There is also access to a useful side storage area.

The house also benefits from a separate single garage, with driveway parking for one vehicle in front, with the addition of on street parking.

This is a home that has clearly been cherished, with considerable care and attention invested in creating something genuinely special. From its beautiful decorative finishes to its charming period features and peaceful setting, every element contributes to a property that feels a cut above the ordinary.

An exceptional opportunity for a discerning buyer, first-time purchaser or downsizer seeking a distinctive, beautifully finished home in one of Newbury's desirable residential locations, within easy reach of the town centre. Early viewing is highly recommended.

Seller Insight

This house had everything we were looking for – plenty of character in a quiet, private location, with a manageable garden and a garage (which was essential for us).

We could see it had the potential to be a lovely home. The location was a big draw too, as we have work and family in Bath, London and Oxford and we were able to reach them all easily from here.

When we renovated, we really wanted to make the most of the original period features while giving it a fresh, modern feel. We uncovered even more character along the way, which was a lovely surprise! The hardwood floors are one of our favourite features, as is our bedroom - it is bright, spacious and peaceful.

This house is comfortable to live in throughout the year. A great breeze flows through in the summer months, keeping it nice and cool, and in winter it is really cosy. The living room is such a relaxing space, and the woodburning stove makes it toasty and warm. We have notably reduced our heating bills too!

The house is great for entertaining as well. We have barbecues all year round, and everyone just naturally moves through the house and the garden.

We are really lucky to have beautiful woodland walks right at the end of the road. I think everyone who lives along here appreciates having that on the doorstep, together with Shaw House and Donnington Castle. It is a great balance of rural and town living. Newbury town centre is a 20-minute walk away (approximately).  There are also so many great country pubs just a short drive away.

We will definitely miss the house, it has been perfect for us. We would love someone else to come along and enjoy it as much as we have.

Location

Newbury combines the charm of a traditional market town with a vibrant cultural and social scene, surrounded by beautiful Berkshire countryside.

The attractive, easily walkable town centre offers an excellent selection of independent shops, cafés, restaurants, traditional pubs, a cinema and the Corn Exchange, hosting theatre, music, comedy and events throughout the year. The historic market square is home to regular markets, seasonal fairs and community events.

The surrounding area boasts wonderful attractions, including Highclere Castle, Watermill Theatre and several Michelin-recognised restaurants, including The Woodspeen and Goat on the Roof.

Newbury Racecourse hosts prestigious racing fixtures, concerts and events, while the Kennet & Avon Canal and surrounding countryside offer excellent opportunities for walking, cycling, paddle-boarding and canal-boat trips.

Picturesque villages, charming country pubs and rolling countryside are all close at hand, providing an enviable balance of lively town living and rural tranquillity.
