AREA GUIDE – LES DEVESES, DÉNIA
Where is Les Deveses?Les Deveses is a coastal residential area at the far northern end of the Dénia municipality, in the Marina Alta district of Alicante province, on the Costa Blanca North. It sits on the long sandy coast north of Les Marines, close to the town of El Verger, and borders the Oliva coastline. Beyond Oliva lies the province of Valencia.
What is Les Deveses known for?Les Deveses is known for its long, wide beach of fine golden sand backed by low dunes, its shallow, gently shelving water and its relaxed, low-rise character. It’s one of the quietest stretches of the Dénia coast. Families and walkers like it, and so do buyers who want to be right on the beach without the bustle of a town centre.
What is Dénia like?Dénia is a historic port town at the foot of the Montgó mountain, with a castle above the old town, a working fishing harbour and a busy marina. UNESCO named it a Creative City of Gastronomy, and it is famous for its red prawn (gamba roja de Dénia). It is also the ferry port for Ibiza, Formentera and Mallorca. It’s a lively, year-round town, not just a summer resort.
What amenities are nearby?El Verger is a few minutes inland, with supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, cafés and everyday services. The Les Marines coast road has beach restaurants and chiringuitos. Dénia town centre, around 15 minutes by car, has the full range of shops, restaurants, medical services and the Hospital de Dénia. Ondara, nearby, has larger retail and the AP-7 motorway junction.
How far is Les Deveses from the airport?Les Deveses is around 1 hour by car from Valencia Airport and around 1 hour 30 minutes from Alicante-Elche Airport. Both have frequent flights to the UK and across Europe. Being at the northern end of the Costa Blanca North puts it closer to Valencia than most of the region.
Can you fly to the Costa Blanca North from the United States?Yes. United Airlines will run three weekly services between Valencia and Newark from June 2027. Newark is a United hub, so there are onward connections across the United States. Air Transat already flies year-round between Valencia and Montreal. Valencia Airport is around 1 hour from Les Deveses.
What towns are close to Les Deveses?El Verger and Oliva are the closest neighbours. Dénia is around 15 minutes south, with Ondara, Pego and Jávea all within easy reach. Gandia and its beach are around 30 minutes north.
What is there to do nearby? You can walk, swim and paddleboard along Les Deveses beach and the Les Marines coast. Oliva Nova Golf, designed by Seve Ballesteros, is close by, and so is La Sella Golf near Dénia. Other options are hiking or climbing the Montgó in the Montgó Natural Park, birdwatching in the Marjal de Pego-Oliva wetlands, sailing from Dénia marina, exploring the coves and snorkelling at Les Rotes, and taking day trips to Ibiza or Formentera by ferry.
Are there international schools in the area?Yes. Xàbia International College in Jávea and Lady Elizabeth School in Benitachell are both within driving distance. Dénia and the surrounding towns also have Spanish state and concertado schools.
Who buys in Les Deveses?Les Deveses appeals to Spanish buyers, including many from Valencia and Madrid, and to the Costa Blanca North’s established international buyer pool. They buy as permanent homes, second homes and holiday homes. The draw is direct beach access, flat walkable surroundings and good links to Valencia.
What is the climate like?Les Deveses has a mild Mediterranean climate, with over 300 days of sunshine a year, warm summers cooled by sea breezes and gentle winters. That makes beach walks and outdoor living comfortable for most of the year.
