Description
Thirty-eight years of family memories. Now it’s your turn to make some.
Tucked away in a friendly close in Astwood Bank, this three bedroom semi-detached home has been loved by one family for almost four decades. The lounge is big and bright. The rear garden is made for sunny afternoons. And with a driveway, a garage and no onward chain, there is very little standing between you and the keys. Skate park opposite, good schools down the road, and a village that knows how to look after its own.
We asked them what made them buy it...
“This was my parents’ house for thirty-eight years. When I first saw it, it needed a lot doing to it. But Dad was a builder, and he could see the vision straight away. They used to live in Cookhill, so they knew the area well. It was a good house on a very decent plot, with good bus routes, and the people here are so friendly. It’s such a close community. There are so many little shops, and the close itself is very friendly. There are local groups, the annual carnival is a must, and small events take place all the time. You’re near the motorways too, and so close to some lovely historic towns. And there are good schools, good pubs and restaurants, and a skate park opposite.”
What about the house itself?
“It’s such a giving house. Dad put a small extension on the back, which makes a great utility room. The lounge is the room everyone comments on, because it’s so big and bright. The light is special. The sun creates so many different images through the day, and in the afternoon it comes round to the garden. It’s a real sun trap. The garden is what the family loves most. The grandchildren grew up out there while my parents looked after them when I was at work. We had so many good Easter egg hunts. I’ll miss it for the memories. It would suit a young family, a keen gardener, or someone who works from home.”
Our agents say...
Homes like this don’t come up often. And this one is packed with possibility.
Start with the lounge. A big window at the front lets the light pour in, and sliding doors at the back open the whole room onto the garden. Summer barbecues, toddlers on the lawn, the dog doing laps. It all happens right here.
The utility space off the kitchen earns its keep, with a second door straight into the garden for muddy boots and wet washing. Upstairs, two good double bedrooms sit alongside a third room that can be a single bedroom, a nursery or a home office. A shower room, a separate toilet room and a downstairs toilet mean the morning rush runs smoothly.
Outside, the driveway and garage give you easy parking, storage, or that work-from-home space you have been after. The new boiler is already in. And throughout the house, there is plenty of scope to put your own stamp on things, just as the family did before you.
Astwood Bank is one of the most sought-after spots around Redditch. You have the shops, the schools and the pubs close by, the motorways within easy reach, and a community that turns out for the annual carnival.
