Description
On a well-established residential road in Rednal, this traditional three-bedroom semi-detached home pairs genuine period character with a thoughtful extension and a full renovation. You’ll find two generous double bedrooms, a single that makes a perfect study, a contemporary family bathroom and three superb ground floor spaces to live, cook and gather in. A block-paved driveway sits at the front, and at the back a long, beautifully kept garden stretches out ahead of you. And with the Lickey Hills, Longbridge and the M5 all close by, it’s as well connected as it is peaceful.
We asked them what made them buy it...
“It felt like a house with real character, plenty of space and everything needed to make it a lovely family home. The location was a big attraction too, with shops, schools and public transport all within easy reach. It’s a pleasant, well-established residential area with neighbours who are welcoming, approachable and happy to look out for one another. The Lickey Hills and Waseley Hills are right on the doorstep and great for walking, and I love the Potting Shed Cafe and garden centre on top of the Lickey Hills. Between them, my children went to Rubery Nursery, Rednal Hill, Lickey Primary and Waseley Hills School, and living here gives you access to both Birmingham and Worcestershire schools. Junction 4 of the M5 is just up the road, there are buses into Birmingham from the end of the road, and Longbridge station is a 15 to 20 minute walk. There’s a great gym over the road too, Nuffield, with lots of classes and opportunities to meet people and make friends. It’s been a lovely place to call home and bring my children up, and I’ll take away many happy memories.”
What about the house itself?
“What first drew me to the house was its lovely traditional character, with bay windows and picture rails, generously sized rooms and the feeling of a solid, well-built home. We extended it for our growing family, which gave so much more room in both the kitchen and the lounge, and I’ve renovated the house throughout, which gives it a modern feel. I probably spend most of my time in the lounge. It’s somewhere I can relax with a coffee or spend time with family and friends. The lounge gets the morning light and the dining room gets the sunset, and in autumn and winter the house feels warm, comfortable and cosy. But it’s the long garden I’ve never stopped loving. My sons spent many hours playing cricket out there when they were children and teenagers, and I’ve enjoyed many hours gardening while listening to the cricket or the football on the radio. Visitors are always surprised by just how much outdoor space there is. The tortoise loves it too!”
Our agents say...
Let’s start with the lounge, because it really is the heart of this home. The extension has given it real scale, it fills with morning light, and there’s an electric fireplace for those cosy winter nights. Then there are the sliding patio doors, opening straight onto the garden. Summer evenings with the doors wide open? Easy.
The kitchen gained from the extension too, and it shows. There’s plenty of counter space, partially integrated appliances, room and plumbing for your own freestanding ones, and a breakfast counter for quick coffees and homework catch-ups. Next door, the dining room has a front bay window, room for a proper table and chairs, and those sunset views the owners love. Made for long Sunday lunches.
Upstairs, bedrooms one and two are true doubles, both with fitted wardrobes, so storage is sorted from day one. Bedroom three is a comfortable single currently set up as a study. Ideal if you work from home, and just as good as a nursery or a child’s room. A contemporary family bathroom completes the picture.
The peace of mind is here as well. A boiler installed in 2016, a new kitchen in 2017, the extension roof re-boarded and felted in 2017, and wiring tested throughout with a new consumer unit and sockets. Outside, a sizeable outbuilding takes care of bikes, tools and garden kit, and the block-paved drive gives you parking for two cars.
First home, growing family or a bit more garden for your next chapter, this is a home that has been loved and cared for, and it’s ready for its next story. Get in touch and come and see it for yourself.
