Description
Traditional four-bedroom detached property with spacious accommodation, mature garden grounds and an adjoining former post office, situated in Clachan, Iochdar on the Isle of South Uist. The house offers scope for modernisation and includes a large dining kitchen, sitting room and sunroom, with one bedroom on the ground floor and three on the upper floor. The property is double glazed and has Rointe electric heating.
An entrance porch leads through a glazed internal door into the main hallway, where a timber staircase rises to the upper floor. The sitting room has windows to two sides overlooking the garden, decorative ceiling cornicing and a fireplace recess.
An inner hallway provides access to a spacious ground-floor bedroom with a window overlooking the garden. A separate shower room is positioned beside the bedroom. A second staircase rises from this hallway to the upper floor.
The dining kitchen is a particularly spacious room with ample space for a dining table and freestanding furniture. It is fitted with timber-fronted floor and wall units, contrasting work surfaces and tiled splashbacks. A stainless-steel sink with drainer sits beneath two windows overlooking the driveway. Timber-effect flooring runs throughout the room.
The adjoining sunroom has timber lining, exposed roof beams and several rooflights, together with glazing overlooking the garden and a door giving access outside.
There are two spacious store cupboards downstairs, one in the inner hallway by the kitchen and the other leads from the sitting room.
The bedroom above the kitchen is a generous room with windows to two sides and a fireplace recess. Its size also allows flexibility for use as an additional sitting room.
The other two upper-floor bedrooms overlook the garden. One has fitted wardrobes, while the other has an en-suite. Storage is provided by a cupboard housing the hot water tank and a separate store with loft access.
Garden and Outbuildings
The garden grounds extend around the house and include lawns, established shrubs and mature planting. Paths connect the different sections of the garden, with a drying area to the side and further ground to the rear.
Off-street parking is provided beside the property.
An adjoining building was formerly operated as the local post office. The interior retains a timber counter and shelving. The building requires substantial renovation, but offers potential for storage or workshop space following repair. An externally accessed store benefits from electric light and plug socket. The small ancillary storage areas are also situated beside the house.
