Description
***Vendor comments*** “When we first stepped through the door of our home on Thurlow Park Road, we had that wonderful feeling that we had found somewhere truly special. We were looking for a home that offered the warmth and comfort and has been our sanctuary, which had the blend of character with a modern decor and the convenience of London living and the reassurance of manageable running costs. This lovely two-bedroom flat has great storage too and has given us all that and so much more.
Now, as we prepare to pass it on to its next owners, we would love to share what has made this place so special to us and why we believe you might fall in love with it too.
One of the things we have always loved about our flat is its beautiful character, particularly the large bay window, which creates a wonderful outlook and is one of those features that makes a home feel special. The building itself has plenty of charm, too, with attractive features in the communal areas that add to its character and are appreciated by residents.
Just as importantly, we have been lucky enough to share the building with wonderful neighbours who are friendly, welcoming and a pleasure to live alongside. There is something reassuring about feeling part of a community and it has made our time here all the more enjoyable.
Another real advantage of living here is the independence and affordability that come with our share of freehold. The owners of the seven flats jointly own the freehold, allowing us to work collaboratively on maintenance and make decisions together, without the expense of a third-party managing agent.
Our building contribution is just £100 per month, covering communal upkeep and building insurance. This has helped us keep our running costs manageable while enjoying the benefits of a shared building. We also have the added convenience of shared parking in the front garden, a real bonus that makes everyday life that little bit easier.
For us, this flat has always been more than just somewhere to live. It is a place to unwind after a busy day, enjoy a quiet morning and feel completely at home.
The two-bedroom layout has been wonderfully versatile. We use one bedroom as our main bedroom and the second as a small double, but we can easily imagine it becoming a welcoming guest room, a nursery, or even a creative space. There is also a dedicated work-from-home area, making it easier to balance professional life with the comforts of home.
Whether you are a first-time buyer taking that exciting step onto the property ladder, a couple looking for a place to call your own, or someone seeking a flexible home in a well-connected London neighbourhood, we can easily imagine you making this flat your own.
One of our favourite things about living here is how easily we can escape into nature. We often joke that we have three of London's loveliest green spaces as our gardens and we really are spoilt for choice.
The cinema/library in Norwood for us is about a 12 minute walk and is another favourite place of ours. Cinemas also in Brixton and East Dulwich.Dulwich Park is perfect for leisurely walks, cycling, and relaxed weekends outdoors. Belair Park offers another beautiful green escape, while Brockwell Park has become a particular favourite for us as a family. From its expansive open spaces to its much-loved Lido and BMX track, there is always something to enjoy. My son especially loves the BMX track, making Brockwell Park a place we have enjoyed returning to time and time again.
When we fancy a different kind of escape, the peaceful woodland trails of Dulwich Woods are nearby. They offer a wonderful opportunity to slow down, breathe in the fresh air, and feel a world away from the bustle of the city.
It is one of the things we treasure most about living here: being able to enjoy everything London has to offer while always having beautiful green spaces close by.
Life here has given us the best of both worlds: the relaxed atmosphere of a lovely neighbourhood, with the excitement of London never far away.
We love wandering over to the historic Dulwich Picture Gallery, exploring the independent boutiques and charming cafés of Dulwich Village, or popping out to discover the local shops along Norwood High Street.
When it comes to eating out, meeting friends, or enjoying a drink, we have a wonderful choice of local pubs and restaurants nearby. And when we fancy something livelier, the vibrant food scenes, markets, and nightlife of East Dulwich and Brixton are within easy reach.
For families thinking about their next chapter, the area also offers a strong selection of well-regarded primary and secondary schools, with a variety of local options to explore.
There is always somewhere to go, something to discover, or a new favourite place to find, while home remains a peaceful place to return to at the end of the day.
Another reason we have loved calling this place home is how convenient it makes getting around.
West Dulwich Station is approximately an eight-minute walk away, with services towards London Victoria. Tulse Hill Station is around a ten-minute walk away, offering Thameslink connections towards Blackfriars, Farringdon, and King's Cross St Pancras.
There are also bus routes nearby connecting us to Brixton and its Underground station, as well as destinations across central London and the West End.
Whether you are commuting to work, meeting friends across the city, or simply making the most of everything London has to offer, the location makes it wonderfully easy to get out and about while enjoying the comfort of a neighbourhood to call home.
Looking back, what we have loved most about this flat is not just one particular feature. It is the combination of everything: the cosy feel of the home, the character of the building, the friendly neighbours, the independence and affordability of the share of freehold, the convenience of parking and the beautiful parks and vibrant local areas nearby.
It has given us a comfortable home, a practical way to enjoy city life, and a little breathing space from the everyday bustle. As a family, we have made wonderful memories here and we will always appreciate the lifestyle this home has given us.
Now, we hope to find someone who will love it just as much as we have. Perhaps you are looking for your first home, a place to build a life together, or simply a home that offers room to grow while keeping you connected to everything you need.
If you are looking for a home that combines character, comfort, a welcoming community, beautiful green spaces and the best of West Dulwich living, we would love for you to come and see it for yourself.
We hope that when you step through the door, you will feel that same little spark we felt when we first arrived and begin to imagine all the wonderful memories you could make here”.
