Description

DESCRIPTION
Torbay is a small close built in the 1960s located at the bottom of the very pretty village green and number 6 is in perfectly decent order and neutrally decorated, ready for someone to move straight in to.
The double glazed diamond pane composite door opens into a good size hall with the staircase hidden off to the left and a very useful coats and boots cupboard adjacent. The flooring is a quality wood laminate board and that continues through a third of the sitting room and the entire dining room and kitchen. Said sitting room is a lovely bright room with sliding patio doors and a window and in the recess is a built in solid timber bookshelf. The dining room is quite long and that then leads to the kitchen, which is fully fitted with beech effect units and granite style worktops. Integrated are a fridge and freezer, a Hotpoint oven and Hotpoint hob (induction we believe). Space and plumbing is provided for a dishwasher or washing machine. In the utility room is a worktop and below that more appliance space, most likely the spot for the washing machine and next door to it a tumble dryer. The shower room is smartly finished and has a large understairs closet. At the side of the house with a door from the utility room is the old garage. I use the term old garage because it now has a personal door at the front although a garage door proper could be reinstated. The garage has a concrete floor, power, lighting, and half of the walls and all of the ceiling have a plyboard lining rendering it suitable for a gym or such and with a degree of work further accommodation. Beyond is another great room, primarily the boiler room but of sufficient dimensions to be a workshop.
On the first floor are three bedrooms, the smallest with a double wardrobe and shelves over the bulkhead. Once again the bathroom is attractively presented, a white suite of wc, wash basin atop a vanity unit, and a bath that has a Triton power shower. The loft is partially boarded, a low pitch but fine for storage.

OUTSIDE
The frontage has been given to parking so now has gravel standing for up to 4 vehicles.

The rear garden is extremely private enjoying a southerly aspect. It is mainly Indian sandstone paving and there is a patch of grass and a small ornamental pond. Mature shrubs and a couple of trees line the boundary.

A gate in the corner serves as access to a little enclosed green behind the garden.

LOCATION
Quainton takes its name from the Old English words Cwen Tun and means The Queens Farmstead or Estate prominent on the skyline is the 14th century church which is exceptionally rich in large late 17th and 18th century monuments. The centre point of Quainton is the picturesque village green which looks up towards the 1830 working windmill. In the middle of the green is a fourteenth century preaching cross and in a picture from the late 1800s the old whipping post is visible where miscreants were tied and flogged Until the outbreak of Dutch Elm disease the village was encompassed by trees. Quainton now has a public house which hosts fine dining evenings, caf, motor repairs, a general store and post office, and there are many clubs and societies. The sports ground features a football pitch, tennis court, and skateboard park.

The surrounding market towns and villages provide a wealth of historical and interesting places to visit including Waddesdon Manor, Claydon House and Quainton Steam Railway which frequently hosts family events. Extensive shopping facilities are situated at Bicester Village Retail Outlet, Friars Square Centre in Aylesbury, and Milton Keynes.

The A41 provides easy access into Aylesbury, Bicester and the M40 network. Rail connections are fast and convenient on the Chiltern Turbo reaching London Marylebone in under an hour from Aylesbury. Services to Euston are available from Cheddington and Leighton Buzzard. Aylesbury Parkway now provides a link to Marylebone at Fleet Marston. Bicester Village station provides a rail service to Oxford in 10 minutes and again London Marylebone in under an hour.
