Description

An attractive three-bedroomed detached family home in the heart of Ilford's Commonwealth Estate

If you're searching for a family home within walking distance of Valentines 128 acre award winning park and both Ilford and Gants Hill stations, then this charming detached residence deserves to be at the very top of your viewing list.

Offering over 1,518 sq ft of versatile accommodation, including two reception rooms, a conservatory, additional loft room and cellar, together with off-street parking, a detached single garage and a south-east facing garden, this is a home that combines character, space and an exceptional location.

There is something particularly special about a detached family home. The sense of independence, the added privacy and the freedom to enjoy a space that feels entirely your own. Set along the attractive, tree-lined Auckland Road, this characterful residence offers all the ingredients for a wonderful family home, with generous proportions, flexible living spaces and the opportunity to make it truly your own.

Top 3 things you love about your home

  1. The light and warmth are what we’ll miss most. There’s something lovely about coming home to bright, welcoming rooms with high ceilings that make it easy to settle in and unwind.
  2. The generous south-east-facing garden has been another much-loved part of life here, from a morning coffee in the sunshine to afternoons spent with family and friends, it’s a space we’ve treasured.
  3. Being detached also brings a wonderful sense of privacy, while the off-street parking, garage and EV charger make everyday life that little bit easier.

Three things we love about the area

  1. Having Valentines Park on our doorstep has been a real joy. Whether it’s a weekend stroll, fresh air with the children, tennis, cricket, boating on the lake, or an evening walk to unwind, we love having so much green space close by.
  2. The connections into London have been equally valuable. With the Elizabeth line at Ilford and the Central line at Gants Hill, we have different options for travelling to work or heading out for the evening.
  3. Above all, we’ll miss our wonderful neighbours. Familiar faces and friendly conversations have given us a sense of community and helped make this feel like home.

What are the local schools like?

Several nurseries are on the doorstep, with nearby schools offering choice as children grow. These include Seven Kings School (last rated Outstanding overall by Ofsted), Christchurch Primary School (rated Good) and Valentines High School (awarded Exceptional judgements in four areas at its March 2026 inspection). For families considering independent education, Bancroft’s and Forest are also within an easy drive, offering further options throughout a child’s education.

Why are you selling?

We’re ready for the next chapter of family life outside of London. Leaving will be bittersweet, we’ve loved living here and hope the next owners will enjoy the home and its surroundings as much as we have.

What is parking like?

We have off-street parking in front of our garage at the rear, which makes arriving home with children, shopping or bags much easier. No parking permits are currently required on Auckland or surrounding roads.

Is there bike storage?

Yes, the secure garage at the rear provides a convenient place to store bicycles and keep them tucked away when they’re not in use.

How busy is the road, is it quiet at night?

In our experience, Auckland Road isn’t particularly busy, and the speed bumps help moderate passing traffic. We’ve enjoyed its residential feel while still being close to the park and transport links.

I'm currently working from home, how does that work in this property?

We’ve both comfortably worked from home, so it has worked well for us, even with the occasional interruption from the children! Having the garden and Valentines Park nearby is also lovely when you want some fresh air away from your desk.

What's the internet like?

We’ve found the internet great for everyday family life and working from home. Full-fibre broadband packages offering speeds of up to 1,600 Mbps are available.

What's the boiler like?

We installed a new Vaillant boiler in 2023 and have had it serviced every year since. It’s one of the practical improvements we’ve made to keep the home warm and comfortable.

Disclosure of Personal Interest: In accordance with The Property Ombudsman (TPO) Code of Practice and the Estate Agents Act 1979, prospective purchasers are advised that the property is being marketed on behalf of a person associated with the estate agency responsible for its sale.
